Is it just me or does there seem to be a true lack of knowledge about the English language on this board?  Simple grammar is ground into the dust and spelling at times is almost comical.  Use of two vs to vs too is almost interchangable and reading " there"  when the writer obviously means " their"  just grates on my nerves.  Maybe I need a weekend away?

TrlrboyI see the same think too, I make too many typos as I type out of control, but people interchanging similar sounding words is weird to say the least, especially to a non native speaker.

Maybe?....... maybe you need a weekend away?

You should also get a " camping dictionary"
If we are allowed to not shave, eat burned things from a stick, sleep in trailers made partly of canvas, not shower and wear the same clothes for days on end,
I think we could probably lighten up on the spelling, here anyway.

TrlrboyWhile it may be annoying, I can see how it happens.  Things that I think are NOT always things that my fingers type.  They appear to have a mind of their own at times.  [:@]  I can also understand how confusing the English language can be.  Even though English was not my first language, I never really thought about it until I ve been working with my 5YO on spelling and reading.  Try explaining to a 5YO why Philadelphia starts with " PH"  instead of " F"  -- just to name ONE example.

That all being said, not everyone has a college degree and it may have been quite some time since High School for some of us, so give people a break.  They come here for entertainment, not to be criticized. [: (]

I think you just need to get out and CAMP -- and stop worrying about the little things in life!  [:D]

TrlrboyI notice the same thing, but I really hate to put someone down because of it.  DH is a real sticker about things like that.  He always gets his hair in a dander even though he knows what people are talking about.

I just figure lighten up --- life s too short to get upset over minor things.

 AB -- love the poem

TrlrboyI the mistakes I really hate are....mine[:@]!

TrlrboySpelling and grammar on here are sometimes " sticklers"  of mine, but I don t say anything, as I know some people type in a hurry, have a dog or a kid yelling or climbing on them, or some other reason causing the error. I try not to let it bother me. I really just appreciate folks coming here to meet and greet and give advice!

TrlrboyI make mistakes when my mind is ahead of my fingers. I end up with crazy variations of words I would never misspell if I were really paying attention.

But to answer your question, yes, you re too uptight IMO [;)]. So long as you can understand their point, that s what s important.

TrlrboyI ve taken several typing courses and an now up to 40 mistakes a minute. Of course being dislexic (sic) doesn t help.

TrlrboyLOL..Yes, you need to go camping more...and...Yes, it does also bug a few of us other " sticklers"  !  [;)]  I use to do a huge amount of editing of documents for the guys at work and now I can t read anything; book, magazine, newspaper, letter, etc. without the errors jumping out at me!  I wasn t even a " real"  editor, just someone who read the documents over before they went to the " official"  editors so they didn t look quite so bad.  <snicker>   I can t imagine real editors ever reading just for fun!

Auston Boston....I have that Spell Checker Ode on my wall at work!

TrlrboyI type way too fast.  I backup more than I go forward sometimes.  I wrote to my boss in an email the other day (The Bureau Chief of the whole Department!).  She had been gone and I wanted to talk with her about training classes.  Real nice older lady...a little heavy but nothing bad.  I wrote in the email, " ....I realize that your busty...."   I meant to say...I realize your busy.  The dang t & y are next to each other on the keyboard.  I guess busty is a word cuz word checker didn t get it.  Thank God she has a sense of humor!

TrlrboyI too make spelling mistakes when I type.  My fingers think they know where all the keys are, but they don t.  They get them mixed up sometimes.  I sometimes enjoy the misspelled words.

birol

TrlrboyI guess we need to learn how to speeel propertly.
