 If this posts twice I apologize.  I thought I had posted this question, but I guess it went into cyber space somewhere!  I am thinking about adding a second outside fan to my refrig.  I have one that is at the top that pushes the air out of the top vent.  I was thinking about adding one at the bottom tha would push the air up past the baffle and the other one would pull it out the top.  Would this be more effecient than just one or would it just be overkill.  I was also wondering if I would put them both on thermostat (the top one is) or would I have the bottom one run all the time the refrig was on?  I have put extra insulation around the sides and the top.  This past weekend with a hot humid 100 degrees the refrig was doing all it could to keep cool.  Thanks for your input and advice.

 PreacherPreacher if you think you need to add a second fan, you might think about adding a second one to the top of the fridge.

 PreacherYou ve got to remember these are absorbsion fridges and do not have a compressor. They can only do so much to reduce the temperature. If you got one that would keep below 40 degrees with an outside temp of 100 degrees consider yourself blessed.
 Passing more 100 degree air across a unit that s designed to only cool so far below ambiant is a losing battle.
 We try and make sure the fridge vents are in the shade when the temp s up as sun on the back panel can raise the temp behind the fridge another 20 degrees and you loose that much cooling.
 Not to mention when up in the mountains and the temp drops off at night to reset the fridge control so we don t wake up to everythng in the fridge hard as a rock.

 PreacherPreacher;

 I have done almost exactly what you describe in your post with very satisfactory results.  (sorry - no pics yet)  I had one fan blowing the air out the top vent, and added a second one right beside the first.  I then packed insulation in and around the baffle to ensure the air flow was concentrated over the cooling fins.

 Right now it s about 34 degrees celsius (94 F) outside and the digital fridge thermometer is showing 3.4 C (or 37.4 degrees F) running on propane set to medium.  That s plenty cold enough to keep the food fresh!  It works so well... I have to watch for freezing... rather than not being cold enough.

 HTH and have a great day!
