Has anybody installed a Weight Distributing Hitch (WDH) to a PopUp with Hydraulic Surge Brakes?  Our 12FSO is probably a littel too big for a Reese Mini 350. (3,000 Pounds GVWR with 400+ Pound Tongue Weigth est.)  The Jayco owners manual suggests that WDH s are available for surge brake applications.

 4GalvsI would highly recommend www.equalizerhitch.com

I didn t get the wdh but installed air bags on my TV so now I am purchasing a sway control device from www.acar4hitches.com

Equalizer and Acar are the the only mfg that offer a sway control device for surge brake system and but Acar doesn t offer wdh from what I can tell.  The advantage of the equalizer system is it does both weight distribution & sway control.

The Equalizer hitch from the mfg is $500 plus shipping which I was informed it would average about $600.  I called a local dealer & the price was $699 before taxes.  The sway control device from Acar is $250.

Any questions please let me know [:D]

 4Galvs4Galvs,

I agree with PopupSgt that you need something for both sway and weight control. The equalizer hitch is nice but costly.. Around 540 $. Reese has a new signal bar WD system for about 230 $ which I am in the process of putting on my TV. 400 lbs tongue and 4000 trailer. I already have a friction sway controler which is fine.  After having a problem two weeks ago on the road, it was time to upgrade the system. Good Luck[;)]

 4GalvsPopUpSgt & Whitestar,

Thanks for the info.  I am not in too much trouble now - just planning for the future.  The Blazer tows the 12FSO almost flat level now.  I may just upgrade the TV when I get work...
