Went to a sportsman/ camping show last night.
I noticed the Palomino folding hardside (TXL) PU s are back in the brochere.

Didn t see any at the show, but glad to see someone is making them again.
I always wondered why they stopped, there seemed to be people looking for them and they had the only one.

It looks like they won t put a shower in a hardside (TXL) though?
Maybe they had trouble with the moisture.

 It s available:

 http://www.palominorv.com/fc-txlflft.shtml

Scroll to the options list. The " SC"  option means shower/cassette. Palomino has a tendency to do that in their marketing literature and on their website. They don t show the picture of the floorplan with the SC option, but it is available. I suppose you have to just imagine where it would be placed [;)].

JeffreyHard sided ???? The picture, as far as Ic an see on the web site shows a normal PU.

Is this something like a chalet or something ?

Jeffrey

 JeffreySacto,
You are correct I misread it.

 Birol,
It looks like a regular PU with tent bunks, but the sides are hard.
They have made them to a long time, but they stopped for 2 years?
Website maybe doesnt have a picture, neither does the brochure?
I think someone needs to help them, with the advertising.

SactoCampers

birolI think they goofed with the picture. " TXL"  has always been their signature designation for their hardsided popup. I don t see why they would change that. It would cause too much confusion.

It s not like the Chalet. It s more like an Apache but with tent bunk ends. Here s what it looks like (click the link below then scroll to the bottom of the window):

No doubt. I think that is part of their biggest problem. The product is good, but the marketing is not.

BTW, I didn t know they made a TXL slideout. That s kind of neat! Nice thing about the TXL is that you don t have to walk around the trailer making sure the canvas is tucked in. Only the bunk ends, which are pretty easy anyway.

JeffreyI ve always considered Palomino to be an " off"  brand.  Not that it is second in quality or service, but that most pop-uppers don t think of Palomino first.

Properly marketed, this kind of product can build a significant nitch for an otherwise very small player.  " No one else is doing it, but you can get it from us!"

P.S. I just learned yesterday that the door which almost killed me had both hinges bent out of shape badly. Gotta get them fixed of course, but I was very pleased that I could bend two thick hinges with one leg, I didn t realize I was that strong :):):) Never mind that I still limp, the darn door doesn t close either , makes my day, sweet revenge  !!! :)

P.P.S : That dealership is almost next door, 15 minutes drive in city traffic, I will see if they have one tonite !

Rather than look, how about you request the participating dealer bring one to setup to make sure! Most promoters of the show will  have a dealer list. You can then contact the participating dealer list and ask them to have a TXL set up for you to look at. Otherwise, they might not bring one!

birol

JeffreyI will see if they are going to participate ! If not , I will contact another dealer which participates to bring one !

JeffreyI would really miss having the big windows on all sides that a conventional PU gives me.  That s one of the main reasons I love the PU - you feel completely surrounded by nature.

Giffster

JeffreyI wonder if the sides fold in like on my hardside Coleman?  btw Slowpez, my windows are different from the Palomino type.  They are full size sliding, tinted glass and have screens that slide also.

 Cheers

JeffreyMy Palomino MXL has the hard sides. The windows are small, but have slides and screens for circulation.
The sides are supported by lift arms, which lock into u-shaped clips on the box. When you release the clips, the sides fold on hinges inward. When you raise the top, springs under the box help with the lifting.
We got lucky with ours, because it was in storage for 6 yrs. Our friend s Pal MXL is starting to get weak springs, so it takes both of them to set up. Ours can be done by one person, but you may end up bending the lift arms.
