I won t be renewing my subscription or my membership.  Neither is worth the price.  This magazine is so thin that I see it more as a booklet.

I agree, the magazine is thin, but it s full of the pop up camping materials that you might not get otherwise.  And where else would so many of you get a chance to be published? Most of our articles are written by PUT readers, pop up campers just like you who want to share their experiences and trade ideas. Some industry members support us and understand our difficulties but most of the RV industry has no interest in pop ups at all and some think I m a fool for trying (including me sometimes). Nobody s getting rich and nobody s getting ripped off.

So if you choose not to come back because we aren t the Time Life of pop up camping, that s fine. We re glad you gave us a try and maybe you ll try us again sometime.

donTo quote the next possible governor of the state of California, " I ll be back!"
 (Yikes!)
I ve checked out other boards and still think PUT is the best of the bunch.  We have gotten a lot of info here and have really enjoyed the rallies with the NNCers and ScCampers.  The magazine may not be big, but I still enjoy reading it and plan to renew both the magazine and my board membership when they come due.  I won a one year extension of the magazine subscription at my first rally last year, so I still have a couple of years left.
Thanks, Dave for creating this very special community of popup campers and keeping this board alive.

donI happen to like the magazine. while it may be thin its full of great info and stories. any articles that are too lengthy end up full of fluff and I can t stay interested long enough.

donAlthough the magazine is thin, I also feel that if it were too thick, I would not read it all and truly miss something.

One suggestion would be to dedicate a page to members websites and helpful links.  I know that space is limited, but maybe it could be worked in and then just a special block with " updates"  when new things are sites are added.

 Just a suggestion[;)]

popuptimesI ll be back.  I had thought about dropping it but I know I would probably feel like I was missing something even though there are other sites that cover all of it.  I voted to the coupon.  It would feel like I was getting something free.... my favorite feeling.

donTake a look at Outside or Mens Health magazine - 18 full page ads before you get to the table of contents! P.U.T. actually has as much, if not more non-ad information than the thicker magazines. It looks like we re getting more info without having page after page of advertising.

donI always like things to stay the same. Whatever our popup guru Dave decides is fine with me.....as long as nothing changes LOL. [&:][;)][:(]

donPersonally, I think you are to be commended for sticking your neck out and asking for opinions!  I am new at popupping and have learned much from you and from the folks on this board.
In my " other life"  I am a business woman and realize one must at least cover costs to stay in business and $30 per year comes out to less than 3 bucks a month where I come from -- where else do you get entertainment and advice for that kind of money?  No offense to anyone on the board but I think some people just seem to have an ax to grind and IMHO anyone who complains about the price is a little out of touch.  Show me a person on this board who says they don t fritter away thirty bucks a year on something frivolous and I ll show YOU somebody with a very poor memory!!![:D]
If I m in for a dime I m in for a dollar -- I don t have a whole lot to contribute but I do have a whole lot to learn and this is a good place to do that -- I ll be back for sure.

I totally agree.  For a magazine fundraiser for my kids  school, I ordered " Trailer Life."   While it does usually have one article on some pop-up, that s the only thing in the whole magazine that pertains to pop-up camping.  It usually deals more with the big boys.

Put it this way:  How many of you get Starbucks every week?  How many spend $ on cigarettes?  Look at those costs.  And you complain about $30 for a year?  I ve gotten so much helpful info from this board that I feel it more than pays for itself in repairs and/or preventative maintenance, not to mention hearing someone else s experience with a product before I decide to invest my hard-earned money on it.  And we won t even get started on the friendships that have been formed, merely online or in real life.

As far as someone s comments of the boards being not as busy, I don t think that s a bad thing.  There was a lot of redundancy and fluff before, IMHO.

Camping CoxesI won t be returning.  I paid for the membership because I missed the comfortable family feel that the members had generated.  I have long outgrown for the most part the need for advice, and mainly came here for socialization.  I also have passed on the torch of answering many of the questions to newer people on the board.

I didn t renew my magazine subscription, becase basically to me it had become a publication of topics and stories already covered here on the boards.  I didn t want to read the same stuff twice, and certainly not pay for it twice.  There were also informative articles, but as for new information pertaining to areas of the country I may actually visit, or products I would use, I didn t find much.  So offering the magazine subscription doesn t mean much to me, I see the same stuff when I log on the board, and I already paid for it here.

I think Dave and Pop UP Times were there at a time in my camping life where I really wanted to bond with other people who camped the same way, and I learned a lot about pop ups, and gave a lot of advice based on my own experiences.  However, now I don t have the time to devote I did in the past, and on the chance I have time to seek out the companionship of others who camp like me, I have our camping club, and the free forums I can attend.

Love you all.  But, it s good bye for me.

Thanks for a great forum Dave.

popuptimesI don t think I will be back either.  I do not find the boards active enough for me to have to pay a fee to see them.  There are a lot of nice people on this board and I will miss them, but I do not feel that this site is worth the price of the membership.  I tried it for the inital year and am not as pleased with it as I thougt I would be.  I will continue to check in here and post until my memberhsip is up and then I think I will move on.
