MPTDATOur power came on about 8:30 last night, but now we ve been told that we ll have rolling blackouts for the remainder of the day, to help the power company get all people back online here in upstate NY.

We WERE supposed to leave on a trip tomorrow, but the dealership has our tv and has no power to do the work on it, that it needs.

 really bummer. [:o]

MPTDATIt isn t that I am sick of camping, I am sick of camping with two ADD kids whose meds haven t quite been adjusted yet!! Don t get me wrong, I love my kids, but they can be very trying in between doses. DH just yells at them and that does nothing for the kids or for me!! Hopefully their doses will be adjusted to the right levels and we can once again enjoy camping again!!
B.T.W. We were told to be very conservative with both the water and the electricity. Our water went off here in Detroit and we are now on a boil water alert. So besides boiling water and keeping the kitchen hot, we can t run the air conditioner, the washing machine, the dishwasher or any large appliance. Especially ones that run with lots of water in them. We are actually not allowed to flush toilets, or anything of that nature because our waste plant is at maximum capacity and it will start coming up in peoples basements. Thank god we are not near the waste plants. All downriver from Detroit has been asked to empty their basements because waste water will be coming up in their basements. I feel so bad for people living there.

MPTDATI can certainly sympathize with all of you who lost  your power.
Last month (today exactly!) we went 4 days without electricity after Hurricane Claudette. It was not a pretty sight. People started getting very edgy from all the heat (96) and the humidity (95%). Couldn t sleep at night, could not get any news as the towers for all the TV and radio stations were knocked out, restaurants and stores were closed.
We haven t finished cleaning up from it yet. The city is still full of debris and torn up roofs.
Needless to say, we are a little nervous about TS Erica. We DON" T need another storm and go thru that again.

 ERICA Stay AWAY!!!!

MPTDATPower is back on[:D] after only 2days,makes you wonder how we got along with out power(we sure are spoiled)

campingcopWe lost it yesterday at 4:15 pm, got it around 5 pm today ! parts of Toronto got it even last night. This noon they had 75% of Toronto have power and we had nothing, zilch ! I am mad !!!!!! They should have rotated the power and give us some for a few hours too so the fridges could keep up [:@]

MPTDATWe were lucky that the problems didn t come into the DC/MD area.  I do admit that on the way home (I left at 4PM as the problems came on the radio) In my mind I was planning on setting up my generator.

While it is too big to take camping, it wil keep the refrigerator, sump pump, TV and fans running.

I really feel sorry for anyone who had to endure the problems.

MPTDATI don t see what the big deal is with having the power out for a few days. It isn t anything for our power to be out. We have lost food in our freezers time and time again. Granted it is the hottest time of year and I like a/c as much as the next person. Everytime there is a little wind the tree limbs get blown into the lines and shut down the power. Last Febaruary our power was out for alomst a week because the power company won t cut the trees out of the right-of-ways.[:@][:@][:@]

Our family has really been thinking about you folks in NYC, and elsewhere. Since our recent trip, we are now much more interested in the goings on in the Big Apple.
My daughters kept asking: " When are they going to get their power back?"

Our impression of NYC is that it is a great city, the way that you all pulled through this, reinforces that notion.

I work for the electric company here in So Cal, so I m very interested in what set this all off. Most of the so called experts we ve been seeing on TV cleary don t have a clue.

I hope that the rest of the North Easterners get back to normal real soon.

MPTDATWe got our power back last night!  Came thru it with flying colors. Set up some shade, made coffee for the neighbors on Saturday...4, 20 cup pots!! All in all we had fun on our street, a 2 day party (we have great neighbors).... set up the quickshade, ran a tarp off that to the front porch for some sun and rain protection and we relaxed!

Still under a boil water advisory, and no AC today.....no water pressure sure made me happy we have that cassette toilet in the camper.

MPTDATMarcy glad to see you came through ok. I am thinking more and more about getting a proper potty for the PU in case of emergencies. The lugable loo does a fine job at night for the girls but man would we be in trouble quick if it needed to become a full time thing [: (]

Miss-Teri

MPTDATVery glad the power is back on for everyone.

I have friends here in Oklahoma who were supposed to move into their new house last Friday.  Because they were waiting for one last piece of paper from Detroit, their move got postponed until Tuesday - they already had EVERYTHING packed!  Amazing how far-reaching the trouble from the black-out caused!
