 Please tell me about some of the bad KOA s.  I have only stayed at one (see my post about the Boone NC KOA).  We liked it, but I have not stayed in a whole lot of different campgrounds. (I have posted reports about most all of the campgrounds we have stayed at & they may still be listed here at PUT)
 
 I was hopeing that the standerds that they claim in their ads were true for the whole chain.  I know the one I stayed at was not as pretty as the local state parks here in NC, but for a campground with hook-ups & a few activities for the kids, it seemed pretty nice.

 I think you will find that may KOAs are nothing more than parking lots for RVs traveling through.  They are close to an interstate and cater to the big rigs that don t usually use many of the facilities.  From what I have seen, they do inspect to maintain their standards, but I think they are willing to overlook some things to keep a campground paying the franchise fees.  An exapmle of this is the KOA in Enfield, NC (Rocky Mount), right next to I-95.  It is basically a large field (there are a few trees) with full hook ups.  Around 4pm the big rigs start filling the place and around 8am they pull out.
 
 Now, some KOAs try to maintain a " resort"  atmosphere with actifities and other stuff.

I ll restate what I said, the one in Verona Va is about the only one I ve been to that I liked. I ve been to a few others (Cape Hatteras, Va Beach, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Colonial, and one several years ago in Webster Mass), didn t care for any of them. Like others have stated, these are usually RV Parks, awing to awning style camping... Some people love it, but not my cup of tea (or can of beer).... I m really more into the National/State Park type campgrounds... I like having electric hook-up s, and water hook-up is nice to have too, but can dry camp along with the best of them!!!

Tena, Yes I am sorry to say. We had to cancel. A close friend is having knee surgery that Fri. He was too going to go to Verona with us. We will try for another date. I will post when we can work it out.

I have to agree with CampNFan, This KOA is one of the very best.  I went only to support the funding for kids cancer, when I seen it was at a KOA I thought I will go this time it won't hurt me and it was for a great cause.
 
After we arrived it was great.  The kids and I loved it, We had a wonderful time, very clean, hot tubs were relaxing and they opened the  pool early for this event..  We will return don't let the KOA sign fool you.  This is a great campground.

OK! We reschuduled our Verona KOA! We are going on "thier" Halloween weekend which is the weekend before Halloween. Hope to see ya there! I will be the one doing "CANNONBALLS!" in the hot tubs!!!  Yeaaaaahaaaaaa! :yikes:
