We were camping this weekend and there was a very nice couple next to us in a Palamino.  Well Saturday afternoon I see him go by to fill a five gal jug with water.  A few minutes later he goes by again.  It was not very long before he was going by with two five gallon jugs.  When he went by the second time with two jugs, I had to ask what he was up to.  Seems he wife was complaining that their water tasted funny.  when he got to looking around he discovered his normally clear water pipes were black on the inside with mold.  He changed the pipes and flushed the system twice with bleach and was now refilling.  He said it was fine a few weeks before when they stayed at a private CG and had no idea what caused it.  Has anybody else had this problem and what can be done to prevent it?

Garrettnot sure what may have caused it, but that is one reason we drain ours after every trip... But then again WE do not drink the campgrounds water anyway..

GarrettSo would the mold grow in a full line, or an empty damp one??????

GarrettI would expect mold to grow in a damp environment.  In a full line, you could expect a brownish slime called psudomonia sepiaphia (I just know I butchered the spelling on this one).  IMHO, sanitize in the spring with two cups of bleach in a system full of water; drain and cap everytime before departing the CG, is the first line of defense.
