We ve not done much dry camping until this weekend, so we haven t run into this problem. We were able to get the Dometic fridge lit and running on propane just fine. It ran for hours, the burner got hot. All seemed OK.

Problem was the next morning. Things in the fridge didn t seem overly cold, and checking the back it turns out the flame had gone out overnight. (About 49 degrees outside temp.)

I ve seen notes on here about spiders, etc., but mostly as it relates to the fridge not lighting in the first place. If it lights but then goes out, is it likely a cleaning issue or something else entirely?

 Suggestions?

Prior to this, there we ve used the fridge on propane for fewer than 2 days total.

springer02Was it windy?  Did you close the little viewing window after the flame was lit?  Did you light it again and if you did, did it keep burning?

springer02I second the question regarding wind.  The only time mine has gone out was wne the wind was blowing " just right" .  Not a heavy wind but in the correct direction to blow out the little flame.  Just a thought.

springer02When you set the trailer up, did you purge the air from the propane lines by running the inside stove for a minute or so? If not, it s possible a *bubble* of air worked it s way to the fridge. Not probable, since you say the fridge ran for at least a couple hours, but possible. Insect blockage would cause a problem with the initial start-up (unless spiders have learned how to blow out the pilot light )

Otherwise, it probably was that rare gust of wind that has been known to blow out pop-up " fridgitators"  when the Moon is in the Seventh House, and Jupiter aligns with Mars, and...

springer02Had some wind, so that s possible. Actually had this happen twice on the trip, though. I m going to have to experiment at home some. I m wondering if using the stove or something might also have been a factor.
