jstaddwtrThat might be a tough on as those Halloween weekends tend to book fast.  I should know since I was scrambling to get a place the weekend before Halloween a few weeks back.  We wanted to get into Spring Gulch near Lancaster, pa, but they were booked solid months ago.  We were lucky and ended up getting a site at Eagles Peak in Robesonia, PA. They will have trick or treating and such the weekend we re there, but the weekend before was the big site decorating contest.  We ve never been camping for " Halloween"  but hear it s tons of fun!

I would just call around to some of the campgrounds near you and ask if they have anything special for Halloween.  Most " resorts"  and private campgrounds do.

We ll have to compare notes when we all get back!

jstaddwtrThis is the first year we re going out for a Halloween trip too. Well...truthfully,  not exactly, We ve been camping on the REAL Halloween weekend but there wasn t any trick or treating. Seems the campground trick or treating festivities are a week or two before Halloween.  It just sounds like a lot of fun.

jstaddwtr

jstaddwtrWe were able to get a reservation for the week of the 24th.  [:)][:)][:)]

We have never been there and it sounds like fun!!!  Thanks!

I knew I could count on you guys!!!!![;)]

jstaddwtrJust FYI to those on the East Coast:  This will be our second Halloween with the GLPUC (Great Lakes -- originally organized through PUT) at Starved Rock, 2 hours from Chicago.  I don t remember how many have signed up this year, but last year we had a good group, bbq d a turkey and shared a covered dish buffet (this year will be ham).  Kids carve pumpkins on Saturday afternoon and after dinner we all go back to our PUs to hand out candy, then retreat to the fire.  What fun!

jstaddwtr

jstaddwtrYou know, DH is from Chicago and I am from Indiana originally. [;)] We are going to try to make one of your outings![:D][:D]

We miss the fall there in the midwest.  We meant to get there this summer but I guess we will just have to wait until next year. [8D] Have a great time![:)][:)]

jstaddwtrjstaddwtr maybe we should do Halloween on the 2004 Hickory Run trip.  I think we will go in October next year, like we did in 2002.

jstaddwtr

jstaddwtrThat would be an excellant idea!!!!  We might even think about an extra large site designated as the general place in general.  Halloween gives so many possibilities for crafts and games and such.  Everybody likes Halloween!

jstaddwtrIf the group is going to be as big as this year we should get an extra site for the activities.
