We  are finally going camping this coming weekend! :p (wayyyy over due)

Thinking about heading south into Ohio, can any of you from Ohio reccomend a State Forest cg that is within about 3 to 3 1/2 hrs south of Toledo preferably in the Hocking area, but we are open to other areas too.

I had looked into the Wayne NF, but it looks like it'll be about a 4.5 to 5 hr ride from Detroit

 Thanks

If it doesn't have to be a forest, We camped at Indian Lake in August and loved it.  It is a state park.

Thanks Nancy, but we really, really want to go to a forest this time out.
The woods are calling me ;)

Thanks Nancy, I did go to the Forestry site, even phoned them. I had found a primitive CG near Hocking, but it is for people with horses only ....the rest are to far for just a few nights. We are leaving at night and wanted to keep the ride to about 3 hrs.

We had considered the Hocking State Park, but they are having a Halloween event this weekend. We have no little ones, so camping among more than a hundred sites of trick or treaters is a little more excitement than we want.

Guess we are spoiled having so many primitive areas to camp here in MI. looks like we'll save the Hocking area for next season when we can get in a 4 nighter.

A couple visits NF campgrounds and gives there opinions of them here.
We have found this useful when visiting other states.

i went to alum creek near columbus and it was nice the best site in my opinion is K19 on the lake.

It ended up that our long weekend got shortened by a night, so we camped near home.  The CG wasn't to crowded in the loop we were in, it was nice!  I'll keep these places in mind for next season. Looking like it's almost time to winterize here.
