Ok all you studly marathon runners and jazzercise aerobic immortals, I'd like to get a heartbeat monitor for use while jogging. Sure, I can (and do) stop and take my pulse for 15 seconds, but it'd be nice to keep an accurate and ongoing count.

I'm aged 43, and currently getting about 158-168 bpm (I think) for a 30 minute duration, jogging on dry sand and dirt paths. Don't know how *fast* I'm jogging, but I can do a mile on sand in about 9 minutes. (Ok, ok... I'm no longer easily trotting out a less-than-6-minute mile like back in my High School days, but it's not a bad way to utilize a mandatory on-the-job lunch break, eh?) Anyway, the monitors I looked at in the local Big-5 sporting good's store ranged from over 100 bucks to 25 bucks on sale. Lots of functions I don't think I need on most of them, but I *would* like to get away from a chest strap and find a wrist-only model, if such an animal exists.

Anybody got any suggestions on brands or models to check out?

Wish I had an answer for you, but runing is really not my favorite passtime :D
