What type of vehicle do you currently tow with?

I wanted to add full size van to the poll, but I can't figure out how to change it.  Does anyone know how?

GaryWT

In the past you could go into edit poll but I am not sure that is an option

Yes, full size van should be an option as well, and maybe the ability to have multiple choices?  We use either, depending on how much stuff we are going to take, or how many people we have to haul etc.  So it varies, but could well be half with the van and half with the truck.

I think one of the moderators can edit your poll.

Dee I only forgot you for a minute. :(   I tried to go back and edit the poll, but I can't.  Take a close look at the second post in the thread.

Lots of people towing with full size vans.  How does that work out?  I was towing with a mid-size Chevy Astro, and it didnt work out so hot.  The Astro really struggeld and overheated climbing hills, along with a long list of mechanical and electrical problems that plagued it even before we started using it to tow.

I have been told by some that Vans simply do not tow as well as trucks.  I traded in the ol Astro for a ford F150 Supercrew, and I am amazed at the difference.

I'm really surprised you had towing issues with your Astro. That was the reason we bought a Astro, because of its towing abilities. We have been very happy with the Astro and it has performed flawlessly for us. We pull a 12' Jayco weighing in around 2200 pounds I believe and it cruised through the Smokey mountains with very little effort. We do have the tow package and the tow haul button and the 4.3litre vortec motor. I'm not sure if there other motor choices. Also I may be wrong but I thought the Astro was built on a truck frame. I wonder if anyone here on the board knows if this is correct. Well it sounds like you have a tow vehicle now that is right for you. It's nice to have choices.

Best regards

Currently have an SUV, but planning on buying a truck!

our astro pulled our pop-up (3500lbs) fine, never over heated, never a problem and it was an old timer 1991,  how heavy was your camper? The astro can pull 5000 lbs, and is built on a truck s10 chassie, ours was AWD which was great in the mud!  i think you got the bad apple !
we only went with the full size van when we went to a hybrid (4900 lbs), but it had rear wheel drive which hurts when backing up on an incline. thats the bad part when your van isn't AWD

so now ken bought  an early christmas present a 2000 yukon denali 4x4 to get our hybrid back on our home site which is on incline and you have to back it in.
