Queen Wilhelmina State Park is situated along Talimena Scenic Drive (Hwy 88)  in western Arkansas just 13 miles from the town of Mena.  The park is high atop Rich Mountain nearly 3,000 feet above sea level in the Ouachita Mountain Range.  There are 40 RV sites with W/E hookups and a few tent sites which may or may not have either.  All the RV sites are paved, level, and well maintained.  They are, however, very close together and offer little in the way of privacy.  Each site has it's own "space" which includes picnic table, fire ring and grill.  The spaces are nicely graveled, bordered with railroad ties and some "walls," but you may be no more than ten feet from the folks in the next space.

The park is open year round but can be very windy and cold at times (see my post, "It was a dark and stormy night," in the General Forum),

All in all the park is clean and very attractive.  There is a nice playground area which includes slides, swings and the usual stuff for smaller kids along with a basketball and a volleyball court for older ones.  The picnic area, between the RV area and the Lodge, is a well manicured and maintained area.

The park has a 38 room lodge with a restaurant, meeting rooms, shops, etc.  Also, there is a museum, park store, miniature golf/putting course, miniature railroad which runs around the park but which was in some disrepair during our visit, and several hiking trails to scenic points of interest.

Since the park is a 13 mile drive almost straight up from the nearest town, Mena, you should take most everything you need with you.  The highway up/down is a good road but has many sharp twists and turns and is not for the overly fainthearted.  As the park seems to be booked solid most of the time, be sure to make reservations well ahead of time.  The Lodge, I'm told, is booked weeks and sometimes months ahead of time.

From the sound of it, all the garbage blows away, so it must be clean!

Glad you had no damage in the wind. Been in high winds in a PU, and it disturbs sleep at the very least!
