Does "Coleman" trailers still exist?

It's been a long time since I've posted here, busy with life, layoffs, and trying to camp.  Anyway, can anybody tell me what happened to the Coleman badge?  I know Fleetwood had always made the trailers and put the Coleman name on them, but it seems like the Coleman name has been dropped and now they are just "Fleetwood."  Am I just in the Twilight zone?

P.S. Got a chuckle of my last visit--1-1-1970!  Boy, I have been away for a long time!

Yes, this is some kind of time warp just like on the twilight zone.;)   The last I heard was that there was a lawsuit to do with the use of the Coleman name by Fleetwood and that the contract was questioned.  I don't know if anything ever got resolved.

Edina Kid,

There never were any "Coleman" trailers, at least not for the past 15 or so years. Fleetwood paid a fee to Coleman to use their name on Fleetwoods' trailers. Fleetwood began adding products, using the Coleman logo, and selling to places in violation of their contract and were terminated by Coleman.

Actually sometime in December the preliminary hearing on the brand name licensing contract will be heard. Right now there is a preliminary injuction in place forbiding FLeetwood from using the Coleman brand name. Which by the way isn't owned by Coleman but whoever bought out Sunbeam in the last couple of years. Fleetwood had to go as far as removing the online owners manuals that used to be available because they had the Coleman name & logo in them.

Thw last actual Coleman trailers were produced sometime in 1989. Then the pattens and manufacturing site were sold to Fleetwood and a licensing agreement was entered into to use the Coleman name on the PU line of trailers.

BTW this isn't the first time this has happend. Sometime in the late 1990's for several months Fleetwood lost the licensing rights and they produced trailers under the Fleetwood name for several months till they got the licensing straightened out.

Actually, Coleman, Inc., is a subsidiary of American Household, Inc., is a leading global consumer products company that designs, manufactures, and markets, nationally and internationally, a diverse portfolio of consumer products under such world-class brands as Sunbeam

Here's why you won't see Coleman logos slapped on the Fleetwood website anytime soon:  http://www.findarticles.com/cf_dls/m4PRN/2003_July_21/105629192/p1/article.jhtml

For those with a Coleman camper, and would like a PDF copy of the owners manual, contact me directly, and I'll e-mail it to you.  It's no longer available on the Fleetwood website.  It covers my camper, but much of it is universal.

Been hearing a rumor (and that's all it is) that we may soon be seeing the Coleman name on Flagstaff trailers.  These are made by Forest River, if I remember correctly.  Guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all shakes out.

It's not Forest River and don't look for any new Coleman campers until 2005.
