Well, you guessed it, I am short an need a step stool when pulling out the canopy off the trailer. Will even need it more now that I am getting the sun covers . Need a good solid one with two steps, and easy to store away. Anyone one with some ideas?

whitestar505I ve always found the Rubbermaid steps to be tops, feet are solid, feet cushions stay on use after use, and they are solid.  For our campers we ve only needed the single step though, but I ve seen rubbermaid double steps too.  We store ours, and used them by the bunkend in both our PopUp and Hybrid.  Sure does make getting in and out easier too.

whitestar505We just use a small folding ladder, it has 2 steps on it.  It works great for us.  I don t know what we would do without it, I am 5 2"  and my husband is 5 5" .
It does take up some space, but you can slide it in sideways and it s not too bad!

 Y-GuyY- Guy,

Have not seen the Rubbermaid stool. Do they fold up for storage ?

whitestar505We use a Rubbermaid Step Stool Toolbox. It may not be what you are looking for, because it doesn t fold up and store away, but it does double as a toolbox for you.

whitestar505We picked up one at K-Mart last year. It has two steps with a rounded handle at the top to balance yourself. It was only about $14 and it folds up. I use it to put up my awning. I hope this helps.

whitestar505We love double duty type stuff and the rubbermaid stool does triple duty plus it folds neatly for storage.  Not only is it a step stool but it is a great place to sit and take off shoes before going inside the PU.  It is also a great end table that can sit between our camp chairs and will hold a couple of drinks and a bowl of snacks.

whitestar505Last year I got a Rubbermaid 2 step folding step stool for Christmas.  I folds to be about 5 inches wide, it will stand up when folded and it will hold 400lbs.  Wal-Mart has them in the plastic row with things like kitchen trash cans and dish racks.  The cost around $15-$18.  I too need something to stand on quite often when camping and this 2 step stool is great.  It is easy to clean and very light weight[:)]

Here is a link to it.

whitestar505We have usee one of  [link=http://shop.store.yahoo.com/flyyourflag/werladcom2ft.html ]THESE[/link] stepladders.  It is sturdy, folds for storage, and is handy at home.   We did not pay as much as this site is asking.  Shop around your local hardware stores and home centers.  Note that you can stand on top of this ladder.

We don t have bunk covers (yet) so we usually open the canopy while the zipper bag is still within reach then let it extend to the ground.  When we get the PU cranked all the way up, we go back and set up the awning.

got woody?

tlhdocWe have this very step stool (the one Tracy posted the link for) in our kitchen so the kids can get up to the sink etc.  It s sturdy, easy to open/fold, lightweight etc.

I m sure you can find it at Target or the like

whitestar505We also like to use items in two or three ways if possible, when camping. We purchased two folding two-step metal ladders from Lowe s Lumber store several years ago. They have a blue plastic covered top-step and are extremely sturdy.
When we set up the awning and install the bunkend covers they are very handy to have. When we no longer need them as step stools we use them, set up next to each other, to hold our extra-extra large cooler. This makes the cooler easily accessible and keeps it up off the ground, definite pluses in my book. When we fold down they are stored in the center isle between our quacho sofa and dinette area. We ve used them for about six years and they still look like new. They were a little pricey at about $25 each, but well worth the money in my book.

whitestar505I use a empty heavy duty white pickle bucket[:D].  It gives me more lift then a Rubbermaid step stool so I can get the bikes on the roof rack and take them off.  As far as safety I have not fallen off it in 4 years of use.  I now travel with 2 buckets.  One bucket is used to hold the gray water hose, plastic mallet, assorted tools and parts, and is kept in the storage compartment of the trailer.  The second bucket holds balls, beach toys, and doubles as our corn bucket.  You know you have to soak the corn real good before you cook it above the camp fire.[;)]  The second bucket is stored in the back of the pick up.  This system works well with me, but may not be for everyone.[:D]

whitestar505We use the white Rubbermaid step stool also. I like the way it stands up after being folded. I don t keep it in the trailer use it all the time at home. I also use it to put the bikes on the Yakima rack on my car.

whitestar505We bought two cheap ($3.50) Rubbermaid-type step stools at a discount store and use them for foot stools around the campfire after we get the awning and reflective bunkend covers in place.  When we pack up, we nest them upside down and put our gray water container in them.  They have a nonslip top and seem perfectly sturdy -- works for us.

whitestar505We like the two step stools as they also work to hold small children sitting at the end of the picnic table.  They would not work for an infant. Ours folds up on top of everything else in the trunk of the PU.
