This article was in our local paper this morning -- this is a suburb of Cincinnati.  I wanted to share -- I think the suburb could find better things to do with their resources and time.  Also, why pick on PU's -- there are a lot of other things also -- TT's, RV's, cars, and just plain old "JUNK" to lower property values.

Bah, Humbug!

I see in the article, that the village has a few violations of it's own.

Better take care of their own problems before bothering residents with so-called "problems" such as campers, boats, etc. After all, who pays the city's salaries?;)

Gone-Camping

If I lived there, I'd probably pave the entire yard in spite of them, see what that does to the property values....

I am glad we live in a farming community.  No one cares what you have in your yard, driveway, etc. :)

On of our local Villages is trying to do the same thing.  It used to be that you could park an RV for 7 days but some people abused that rule by moving the camper for 1 day and coming back another 7.  Now there are new rules.

It seems to me like they aren't complaining about the PU's as much as they are the junk cars.  I've gotta symapthise with them.  We lived next to a family (father on one side, daughter on the other with family) And on one side we had three vehicles and on the other we had 2-4 depending on what transition they were going through.  All of these vehicles were unregistered and junk.  One was a mini van that actually had green mold growing on the seats!  In our old town you were only allowed one unregistered vehicle per household.  Finally somebody down the street got sick of driving by the mess and wrote to the town, and three cars went, but then were quickly replaced.  Seems they can't give up a good buy, even if the car isn't driveable.     I can understand getting a car to fix it up, but one was a full size truck that sat for 9 years and had small trees growing out of the front seat (totally not lying here!)   :)   Everything in moderation, I guess!  You never know what people are thinking!

When I lived in Mesa, AZ, my parents would spend the winter months with me and they had a new MH that they would park on the side of my home. We were sited because it wasn't further back in the yard. We couldn't move it further back because of the pool pump. It was 15" too forward for their rules. So during the winter we had to pay to store their MH while they were with me. When I married DH he built my parents a cement driveway along the side of the house with water and electric for them to keep the unit on. What a wonderful DH I have. I returned to my old place to see how it changed and it really did. The people that bought my home have a TT, 2 construction trucks, and a couple of cars in the front. And the next door neighbors have vehicles parked in the street and on the side yards with flat tires, obviously hasn't been moved for a while. So where are the rules now? Anyway our PU is on the new driveway with hookups, behind a gate, so we shouldn't have any issues with the neighbors or CCR. Only time will tell.

Two of the towns in Sussex County, (where we camp), passed similar laws. Can't say I blame them. Some of the residents yards look like junk yards with rusted out shells of cars, trucks and who knows what all over their front lawns.

Though, I guess, it saves the homeowners the chore of mowing the grass.

I understand about "junk", but I think they should treat each situation differently.  If it isn't moved and grass is overgrown - it's one thing.  We have our PU in our driveway and we don't put trash or allow grass to grow along the side, but our Cincinnati's law is not camper/boat can be kept in front of houses, must be moved to rear.  We can't get ours in the rear (no access).  Trust me, I'd have it in the rear if we could.

we put ours WAY in the back.  I feel safer with it back there.  DH came home one day and DS #3 was standing on top of it     (turn my back for one minute...)  and I get a little nervous about someone just backing up into our driveway with a good pair of bolt cutter and taking off with it.  It's not a very expensive camper, but it's all we've got!   :XMas
