Does anyone have a suggestion for camping in Baja California? I would like to find a campground between Rosarito and Ensenada if possible I would like it to be:

(1) Safety for my family and equipment
(2) Clean
(3) On a sandy beach for the kids
(4) Good waves for surfing

Has anyone run across my personal Shangri-La in their travels?

Thanks,

Jeff Stubbert

You might try El Oasis. It may be too far north for you being just north of Rosarito. They have a pool, hookups, etc, and is adjacent to condo's. They have a restaurant etc.

Back in the days when I used to play beach volleyball, a bunch of my friends would go down to Estero Beach for a yearly beach VB tournament.  I don't know much about it other than they all used to camp on the beach, but maybe someone else will have more info for you.

If you ever find this Shangri-la, let us know!  :)

Jeff,

There's a place about 45 mi. past the border called K-58, Los Alisitos.

I have been going here for several years.
* very safe for families
* sandy beach with tide pools just a short hike away
* flush toilets
* outside showers
* stores, restaurants, tacos, very close
* surfing
* great beach
* about $7 a night

Just take the toll road south "to Ensanada" and you will see a big white hotel called Hotel La Mision. at the La Salina exit

enjoy!

This is down by La Fonda, where, in my graduate school days, my buddies and I would go for few days to let off a little steam after finals.  La Fonda's machaca breakfast is just the ticket for a morning headache.:)
