We just spent 4 days camping with 9 families from the North Texas Pop Up Camping Assoc at Fort Parker SP in Texas.  Weather was in the 70's.  Don't you just love that in January?  Here's a link to a pile of pictures...

Debbie:  Some things are strange in TX.  Ft. Parker #3 was what I found up in one of the blockhouses.  She looked like she had been there since 1860.  I saw you were from the Poconos.  We used to have a place near Lake Wallenpaupack on Shiny Mountain Road.

Bob,
I live in Tobyhanna off Rt 196, not too far from Lake W.
Been here 5 years now, moved here from Northern, CA (Citrus Heights, Burb of Sacramento)...miss it!!!  The camping was soooooooooo much better in CA (as far as weather goes, which many times can make or break a trip).

I remember going to Tobyhanna SP when I was a kid to go swimming.  We got there one Saturday and saw that they had drained the lake and were paving the bottom.  Try camping at Hickory Run, it's a nice place.

She did camp at Hickory Run with the COTOC group.  We will be camping there again at the end of September if you would like to join us. :)

Trlrboy, it looks like you guys had a blast this week! I luv the pics. I had not heard of Fort Parker SP. Looks like a fun place. Thanks for sharing.
We went camping too. Just to our usual SP close to home. We set up on Wed (Lake Texana S park was already crowded by 2:00, guess everyone had the same plan) but we drove back home for New Years Eve- DD had a party to go to and we wanted to be close by.She may be 18 but you know how dangerous New Years eve can be. Thursday DH had to work 1/2 day so I went to camp in the a.m. and he drove down later. It was windy and very humid  with temps in the 60's and 70's, but not bad at all.
That pic of Patty in her chair with a book- that too was me! Kicked back and relaxing. We built our campfire, grilled some ribeyes, went for nature walks, listened to the hoot owls at night. What a life! I'm ready to go again! :)

Nice pictures!! It certainly looks like fun. I have the camping bug so bad right now I can't stand it.  We actually had temps in the 70s here in the DC area for a few days too!! It has been unbelievable for a few days. Its one of those things I wish we could have predicted earlier before we had so many plans for the week. I would LOVED to have been camping and couldn't quit thinking about it!  We did get out one day to do a little hiking but no camping.   Supposedly bitter cold is on the way back for us tonight though.

Glad you had such a great New Years!

Well, I'd love to join you but it's a 1700 mile run for me from Dallas to PA.  Have a good time.
