Great pictures, and the park has changed since you took them in 2001.  They  have updated 2 of the bathhouses and have torn down 2 others and have put up brand new ones.  They have also taken out all the water lines and electrical lines and replaced them with new ones.  They have added a small fence right at your electric/water outlets plus a fence for you to hang your line on for towels etc.
We camp there at least 3 times a year.  Love it! :)  Our favorite site is just a couple down from you:  site 20

Awh man, now I'll have to go there again to get updated pictures!   :p

Thanks for the updated information.  I didn't think the bath houses were bad at all.  I wonder if they are now ADA rated.  Anyway, always glad to hear when the State is taking care of the parks.

Alas, I must now return...   :D

Thanks so much for the info. we are planning a trip for the July 25th thru the 1st of May . I was wondering about the sign you have a picture of that says Blue Totes are not allowed is that just for black water or does grey water also apply . I have one of the totes that are on wheels and is totally sealed , I thought those were allowed for grey water. Any help with this would be great. One other thing I have site #20 reserved if you can please give some reasons why this site is your favorite , we are just excited about visiting and want to get as much info. as possible . PS: If you have any pics of the site itself I would love to be able to see them . Thanks so much for your help .

First off, welcome, welcome! :)

The container that you have is a tote that you can use.  No problem.  In fact, you are close to the dump station (don't worry, your not that close), so you can wheel it up and dump it.

#20 is our all time favorite site.  It's right on the water and it's a beach area.  You have a campsite to the right of you, but to the left is ALOT of brush/trees, so it's like you have NO one next to you.  Plus you have privacy on the beach area of your site.  In my signature is a link with some pictures of St. Andrews state park.  Feel free to look at them.  The one that says Spring break 2002 - album #1 - that has a couple of pictures of site #20.

Do you have kids?  Because there is a ton of stuff for you to do.  You will watch every day/evening the pirate ship go out from your campsite.  You have to do that.  It's very entertaining for you and the kids.  Plus the "pirates" keep the kids so occupied with things to do while you are cruising that you can sit back and relax.  We have done the sunset cruise, and wow....what a beautiful sunset.  (I took a picture of a sunset right from the pier at the SP in one of my photos too).  Also, there is a dinner cruise boat that goes out "Capt. Anderson's".  Takes you on a cruise in the bay area while you eat and dance.  YOu will also see that from your campsite every evening.

Wow...there is just too much to mention.

They are not that good though, sorry!  Let me know if I can help you out in any other way.

The full story on the resolution of gray water containers at this park is located here: http://www.gonecamping.net/stories/fl_graywater.html

That was a hot topic for a while.  Not an issue now.

The bad part then was there was NO way to wash dishes legally at that campground.  No dish washing sink available, not permitted in the bath house, no totes allowed at the campsite.  We waited 'til after dark, and washed them at our faucet after wiping them off with a paper towel.

The rules have changed.  I'm hoping they've added deep sinks at the campground somewhere (typically behind the bath houses) for a sink washing station.  Maybe Sltrawick can answer this.

No, they haven't added any deep sinks that I know of now.  But, it really isn't a problem at all.  People are washing there dishes right at the campsite and the rangers don't really care.  As a matter of fact, some friends of ours were doing the dishes (they were in a tent) and somehow the facuet got messed up and we had to call the ranger to come and fix it.  They knew they were doing dishes, etc and really didn't care.  Just how sorry they were that the facuet messed up, etc.  Very nice, etc.

Strangely enough, it wasn't the park rangers writing citations.  It was the county inspectors, you know, people who know nothing about camping, and less about the law they were trying to enforce.  Turns out they were wrong.  Misread a portion of the law and it didn't pertain to us.  A memorandum was written after that to cover the use of Blue Totes at campgrounds until a new law could be written.  I was one of the many who fired off letters to the State.

The park rangers, as well as the county inspectors, could have been more helpful in telling us what we should do, rather than what we can't.  Others have asked the rangers what they should do about washing dishes, and politely got a shrug.  As the saying goes, "if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem".   ;)

I remember when all that mess was going on. And your right, it wasn't the rangers, but the county inspectors who knew nothing about camping (crazy)....even the rangers where upset over it.
I too was one of the ones that fired off letters to the state. Thank goodness they listened!

I have stayed at St. Andrews SP several times over many years.

 Always a great time.

We have reservations for July 24th - August 2nd at St. Andrews.  I was wondering if there might be something I should be concerned about in regards to water conditions (excessive jellyfish, seaweed etc.)  We have three small children 6yrs and under and I would hate to take them on a 12 hour trip to find out that they are not able to swim in the water.  Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi. I am the mother of 3 (plus a kid-like husband) and love camping with them. THank you so much for sharing your photos of St. Andrew's. Really gave us a feel for it and now we'd like to visit it.  We live in So. Ga (grew up in FL) and are always looking for a new destination on the water.  Thanks. Arlene
