I love this campground.  The facilities tend to be more rustic, but EVERY campsite is on the water.  I'm not talking a walk, or you can see it in the distance, no, ON the water!

Wife needed emergency surgery last Summer, so we had to cancel our reservations (she's fine BTW).

Already have reservations for Summer 04.

Can't wait!

Do you have the best sites listed anywhere ? I saw that the pics you have showed mud and you had mentioned that some were all sandy . Are there any sites that are better than others in the 50-60 . If possible could you give a list from best to better. Thanks so much for all the help with the campground reviews.

The campground only has 60 sites.  Sites ~#42 and above are quite nice.  The best ones are #50-60.  Sites below #42 start getting muddy, and worse as you head towards ~#30.

The mud only shows up when the tide goes out.  As you walk out to the water, the mud quickly turns to sand.  The bad part is walking back from the water to your campsite.  You'll need to rinse your feet off at the campsite.  Our friend gave us a couple of wooden grates to stand on while cleaning our feet.  I think these came as a set of 4 in a gardening section.   This is much better than standing on sand and trying to rinse the sand/mud off:  http://2manytoyz.com/camp/lksp2/DSCN2775s.jpg

The rocks are also an issue at the lower campsites when walking out to the water.  Not a big problem as they are far enough apart to walk around them if you're careful.

Okay, I dug through my picture archive and came across these two images...  Taken from campsite #42, first looking towards the lower campsites: http://2manytoyz.com/camp/camp3/2713.jpg

Now looking towards the upper campsites:

From those, you can see the amount of rocks significantly increases as you move to the lower numbered sites.

Enjoy your stay.  We are headed there again in June!

My husband and I are from the keys we love long key but think bahia honda state park is better.  We used to go camp at bahia honda in our old pup not all the camp sites are on the water but the beaches are the greatest
