Where to stay in Fla. where we can get warm!!!!  The SPs in the keys are full.......any other suggestions?  Only requirements is we have to be able to swim, and don't want to be on top of each other?  Whatcha think?   Of course we are looking at the really busy first week in April.

Thanks.

Gosh...... April is a little hard to predict.  Sometimes still too cool for us to swim down here, but then again sometimes pretty doggone hot..  Stay away from the big name beach towns unless you really want crowds....and students. We don't do alot of swimmin till around May so you may want to go a little furthur south in April. Try Naples, Fort Myers or even Clearwater /St Pete ( our favorite ) Gulf beaches are much nicer than East coast with one exception....... DAYTONA !!! Without a doubt, the best and most exciting beach on the Atlantic.  As far as campgrounds go .....pick one, you won't be around the camper much anyway. If it is forecast to be hot.. you must visit the springs of the north central area. Rainbow, Wekiwa and Silver Glen are our favorites. Have a ball

Head for any of the springs.  The water is 72 degrees year round.  Sounds cold, but it isn't too bad once you're in and swimming.  We do this even in Winter.  The water actually feels warmer since the air is cold.  The only bad part is getting out of the water during the Winter!

Places to consider: Alexander Spings, Blue Springs, Gennie Springs, etc.

FL doesn't have a camping season.  It certainly won't be cold here by April.

Thanks again!

You can pretty much camp anywhere in Florida in April.  If you are interested in the panhandle, there is Grayton Beach SP, Henderson SP, ST. Andrews SP, St Joe SP and St. George Island SP.

Swimming for our family is as improtant as camping.  I will look those SPs up on the web.  Thanks!!!!!!

A friend of mine is going to Red Coconut RV Resort on Fort Myers Beach - Gulf coast this weekend.  She said it's wonderful, beachfront, accept dogs etc.
I looked it up in my guide and it says the prices are from $27-60 for 2 people!!  Rec-room has a 6-foot TV screen!

Check out San Carlos RV Park and Islands...it has a pool AND a jacuzzi as well as a boat ramp and kayak rentals.  dogs and kids OK.  $25-30 for 2 people plus $2 for a/c use.  It only got a "5" from Foghorn but I believe I've heard it's pretty good.

We are booked at Rock Crusher campground in Crystal River Fl in Feb.  It's about 1 1/2 hours from Orlando.  They are running a special for Good Sam members and are charging about $13.00 a night.  We booked for 10 days, and it cost me about $155.00 including tax.

Their sites have full hookups, and the have a screened pool/hot tub.

Care for a little review of Red Coconut on Ft Myers Beach ?  We stayed there last spring break.  Very old ( campground and visitors ) mostly seasonal retirees in modular homes or rv's  ( we were only pop up on east side ) and EXTREMELY tight sites. Campground is on both sides of two lane road which is virtually deadlocked from 2 pm to midnight, beach side sites are a little bigger, but not much.  There were a couple pop ups over there. Beach is OK but very desolate,no activities at all !  although one mile up road in center of town, there is on beach eating and shopping with a little more lively a crowd.  Good thing is trolley ( for a quarter ) which travels constantly up and down Estero Blvd.  All said, the town is small, but pretty neat old Florida, beautiful marina area, surf shops and etc around the circle,  but we will not return to Red Coconut, at least not until we're 70 or so.

Thanks!

It is always good to hear what to expect!
