Well, we got to spend the whole weekend at the local Children's Hospital.  Our youngest DD had her appendix removed on Saturday.  All is well, but she is moving slow.  She will get a week off from school.

At least it did not happen on a Camping Weekend.  Got to give her credit.

Glad to hear it all went well.  This is one "removal" she  (and you!) wont have to worry about later on.   And having it done at such a young age, she will recover rapidly.  You'll probably have to hold her down to keep her from getting back to normal too quickly.

Hope she's feeling better!  I'll be thinking of her while I'm sitting here nursing my own DD back to health after her tonsillectomy.  Hopefully your DD will have a speedier and less bumpy road to recovery than we seem to be taking.

Good luck!

Must say that that young lady has outstanding timing:J !  Glad to hear all went well and she's on the mend!

Glad she's doing OK -- at least she didn't miss anything with the weather -- sub-zero is way to cold to be out running around anyway:W - she'll be good to go in no time.

When my DD was in 4th grade, she had her appendix out.  I just cried and cried. The thought of sending my only daughter into the OR was just too much for this seasoned pediatric ICU nurse to take.  I am so thankful all went well and she was home the next afternoon.  The first few days she was not a happy camper, but she did go to school by the end of the week.  We went out and got cute overalls for her to wear, as anything around her waist was uncomfortable.  She is now in 7th grade and loves to show what is left of her scars to her friends.  We are glad that all went well and your DD is on the road to recovery now. Take care:)

I remember my gallbladder surgery and that my appendix was taken out at the same time due to some kind of rule/law, since the location is so close together. Well, that was two operations in one.  While in the hospital there was an 8 year old who had a terrible time with a ruptured appendix which was removed.  He was so sick and nauseous that he couldn't eat for several days.  He was still like that the day I went home and I felt so sorry for him.  He began to perk up a little bit but not enough.  There was a delay in the diagnosis and it caused him quite a bit of discomfort and an ugly infection when it was finally determined.

I am glad all is well and that she's on the way to recovery.

Glad it wasn't a camping weekend. :p

Hope she makes a quick recovery.

How's the DD doing after having the Appendix out?  What is that little pesky thing for anyway, if you can live without it?  Maybe the human bod does that to send surgeon's kids to college.:J   At least that is what my Dr. said when I asked him what the gall bladder was there for if I could live without it...he said this in front of the surgeon that was to do the removal.  It was some kind of inside joke for them.  As for me, I was sitting there really sick.  While waiting to be admitted and they were collecting info because my file had not been sent, I told the admissions clerk I was too sick to be sitting in there.  She persisted and I told her to just please call my Drs. office and have the file sent.  She kept on and I said, m'am I'm about to throw up so please hurry up.  She kept on...and a "scene" ensued that would rival anything that Firefyter-EMT has seen on his bathroom floor and walls recently.  It wasn't pretty.  I guess the next time that woman goes into her long line of questions, she will think twice before her walls get initiated again.;) :( :o :D

Some of them at the hospital can be quite mean unfortunately. They need to get things done, that is granted, but, they also need to understand real patients from the fakers :) I guess this nurse's experience level increased drastically :)

Perhaps my calm, cool attitude was throwing her off a bit.  I was being polite and direct but she was not buying it.  I don't think she could see how pale I was looking or how sick I was.  She had probably seen plenty of sick people come through before and it was nothing to her.:(   It seems that I went through something similar thing right before my daughter was born...arrive at hosp with pains 1 min apart and they can't find file, standing there and a pain hits. This nurse continues to put me through a lot of questioning until another nurse comes by, puts me in a wheel chair and says to the other....can't you see this woman is having a baby right now?   I guess I am just too nice and too calm when around hospitals and they don't take me seriously.  Now if I were to act like something is really terribly wrong, maybe the service would be better.  My experience with hospitals isn't very good at all. (Tonsil, gallbladder, baby, and oh yes, want to hear about the allergy attack I had and the other time I was given the wrong medicine?)
