We delivered our Epic today to it's new owner.  Before the money we sold it for dwindled away we wanted to look for a bigger PU right away.  The 2 that Camper's Barn had in our price range were just not worth the money that they were asking for them.  The 96 Coleman Cheyenne was full of holes and in icky shape.  The 95 Rio Grand was in better shape but still pretty rough.  Neither had a furnace and with the kiddies that is a must.  Rather disappointed Jay and I called Boat and RV warehouse.  The salesman's computer was down so all he could tell us was that he had the Jayco Eagle.  We weren't that far away so we went to take a look, that wasn't any bigger than our old Viking.  The salesman pointed out a 99 Starcraft Spacemaster.  It was quite a bit more that we planned on spending and I jokingly said to the salesman well if you can give us a couple months to pay it off we'll buy it.  I almost fell on the ground when he said that they would do that.  Before we gave them any $ we opened it up.  I was standing inside when the salesman and Jay pulled out the bumpout.  All they heard was Holy S**t!  I can't believe how much room this has.  It will be tight for the next 2 months while we scrape together the rest of the $ but we didn't have to finance anything (We agreed no payments till I'm working too)and we can't wait to get it home and go camping.

Congratulations on the new rig! If the new Starcrafts are even close to the quality of the old Starcrafts, then that trailer should last an awful long time! The two mid 70's Starcrafts that I used to own are both still in use today, a friend of mine owns one of them and will have it at the MAPCE Spring Fling in Richmond in April, it's 26 years old this season!!!

Congratulations!

I agree with Cliff. Seems that whenever we see an old camper in use, it is almost always a Starcraft.

I have a theory about that. Either Starcrafts last a loooong time, or their owners can't afford to buy another one because of all the repairs. :J

Lets hope it's the former, not the latter.

Larry, actually owners of old Starcrafts have lovingly care for them so much that very littled needs to be repaired.  My 88 Starcraft is in good shape for a camper its age.  I just sold it and I know the couple purchasing will love it for a long time.  Go Starcraft and go Camping!

I hope that it will last.  My dad has been camping for 50+ years and the first thing he said to me was that starcraft makes a good camper.  We are hoping that if we take good care of it -it will last us till the kids are grown.

Actually, I think the reason for that is shear numbers. Back in the 70's, Starcraft was the trailer that outsold all the others (kind of like modern Day Coleman/Fleetwoods). Then again, they did indeed hold up really well!!!:D

Congratulations on the new PU.  You will need to take pictures so we can see it. :)

Larry,

I can verify that it is truely the former!!!  We are posting our 1998 Starcraft Starstream in the For Sale section since we are getting a KZ Frontier Hybrid next week.

If anybody is interested in a wonderfully maintained Popup, check out the "1998 Starcraft Starstream for sale in NC"

WE ONLY BUY STARCRAFT! we had a 75, and yes it's still on the road, we had a 2000 spacestar with all the bells whistles, and full slide, (i loved it) thats is very much on the road! resale was good too, now we have the 2003,21SSO travel star, (hybrid) and that is nice too! (the only thing i would change is the table)

we only sold them to upgrade as we are getting older, son grew out the full size bed! he is 6'2'' and i wanted a bathroom! and ken wanted a/c, the 2000 was the best, ken was getting cranky from the cranking,,,,, we camp a lot! and then he was getting sick, and couldn't handle the stress of the set up and break down, (rain!) so less set up work was better! so we went to the hybrid.
