A thread on the Fix-It site got me to wondering how many of you have ever, still do, never have, etc used your Pop-Up for Winter Camping?

That's one season I've never tried camping in and have been itching to try it!
Thanks!

With the old PU, we never had to winterize, so I had always wanted to winter camp, but with the new one, we have to winterize and I really enjoy having a hot water tank, I don't want to go thru the hassle of de-winterizing, the re-winterizing; hopefully we will get to try it just once though.

If you can skip using your water system (water heater and water pump), you can just use jugs of water.  We use the drain in the sink and then just rewinterize the one dran and if is safe to close the PU when you are done. :)

My son & I have winter camped 3 times last year, but only once so far this year.  We enjoy it & I would like to do it some more.  The hardest thing about winter camping is that our favorite & close campgrounds are closed.  The rest are just big parking lots off of the interstate.  We do however pop up the camper in the driveway & camp out many Saturday nights.

We stay warm with a Mr Heater Buddy heater and do our cooking indoors.  The only down side is that we have to keep the portapotti inside instead of setting up our "pop-up shelter".

One of the reasons we upgraded was to stop this insanity...:J

We've thought about it, but maybe someday when things start to look up.

That is one of the reasons I love my cassette potty, I don't have to move it or set up a special outside shelter for it.  It also has a privacy curtain so you can use it any time and not have anyone watching. :J

we use the drains, and flush out the toliet, when we pack up, and put a gallon of pink stuff anti freeze in the tank!  we use a coffee urn for hot water and place it near the sink, and we have the five gallon water tank on the side of the sink to wash the stuff, and we make one pot meals or mirco stuff . we use a quart water bottle  fill with water when using the toliet to flush with.
