Hi All,

DW and I are leaving in a couple of weeks for a week long camping trip to Disneyworld. Of course we'll be staying at Fort Wilderness. We're celebrating my wife's parents 50th anniversary. They are full time RVer and their wish was to have the whole family togetrher for their anniversary. From what we've heard, once you've camped at Fort Wilderness, you'll want to return time and time again.

My mom has always wanted to go to Disney and I've got reservations to take her in October. We will also be staying at Fort Wilderness.

Having stayed a week at Fort Wilderness in June ,I can honestly say it was the nicest campground my family has stayed at. Before you leave
check out all the links to disney and make sure you have a print out of
bus routes both for the parks and the campground. We forgot to pack ours and were lost for awhile until we could figure it out. This club is
extremely helpful if you have any questions.Have a wonderful time!

Have a great trip. :)

Thanks everyone. I've got all sorts of great tips from PUT Forum members and we're really looking forward to the trip. We'll be arriving at Fort Wilderness in exactly two weeks from today! DW and I are counting down the days, making lists and getting everything ready.

You'll have a WONDERFUL time.  If you want a golf cart to drive around Fort Wilderness, call ahead and reserve one.  Otherwise, chances are they'll all be rented out.  You can stand in line with the other masses hoping someone will return one early, but that's no fun!

If you plan on riding bikes around the fort, take your own if you can.  At $10 or $12 per bike per day , it'll soon add up.

You can't drive to places within the fort with your TV.  However, they do have an excellent bus system.

Have fun, and post pics!

Actually, my first camping trip ever was to Fort Wilderness. We lived in Miami at the time (around 1974) and Miami was not know as the camping capitol of the world :D   After that I tried the "trailer homes" (they had Terry TTs before the current cabins) a couple of times and then did not stay at FW again until we got the PU.

It is a wonderful place! :Y

Check out my Fort Wilderness Fun Facts and Information Web Page

The only word of advice I will give you is not to try to cram too much stuff into each day.  Try to spend some time relaxing at FW rather then running around all the time.

Have fun!

Hi Tim,

Your site has been invaluable in the planning of our trip. We couldn't have done without it. Thank you for the excellent resource.

We'll give you a report when we return.

Hi Robert and Jeanie,

We planning on takling full advantage of FW and all of the amenties. We're bringing along our folding Dahon bicycles that we purchased at Camping World just for our Disney adventure. We read everywhere how valuable bicycles were to have while visiting FW.

Thanks for the post.

Hi Tim,

FW was everything and more than what you said. It is an absolutely incredible place. DW and I had a fantastic time. The week flew by. DW's parents were in the site right next to us in their 38' Winnie. Thank you for all your insight and help. With your FAQ's in hand when we arrived, we knew the ropes and felt like we'd been there before.

Again, thanks!

Glad you had a great time!!!

Please let me know if anything should be updated/added/corrected on my FW page.

It is a wonderful campground.

Maybe we should do a mini rally there sometime ;)

Have a great trip.. just heard on the local news that anyone planning a trip to either Disney place,, needs to open their wallets a little wider... prices are going up about 5%.  These places just keep getting higher and higher.
