The Vernal Equinox is coming....The date ( March 20 in the northern hemisphere) when night and day are nearly the same length and Sun crosses the celestial equator (i.e., declination 0) moving northward. The Vernal Equinox marks the first day of the season of Spring! YEAH!
:S
So... when is your first spring camp trip planned?
I know we have one scheduled for Easter weekend in April for 4 days. We'll be going to Bastrop SP here in TX. Can't wait.

Bristol!!! My first race and first camping trip of the season. The race is March 28; I'm planning to leave for the track after work on the 24th. (Hey, it's at least a whole hour away...don't want to get caught in traffic! LOL!!)

I hope the weather cooperates! I've been there in March and gotten sunburned. I've been there and gotten soaked. And then there was about two years ago when the lows at night were in the teens! And I was still tent camping. Yikes! (When you're getting ready to spend the night in a tent, four words you do NOT want to hear the local weatherman say are, "Possible record lows tonight!"   )

But I know how the furnace works now and I'll make sure both propane tanks are full and ready to go...just in case.  :p

We have a 2 week vacation planned for the middle of April. We may or may not have a new trailer by then. We are looking at hybrids, but no decisons made yet. So it may be our last trip in the old PU... we are thinking about heading down south, maybe Mesa Verde Natl Park and the area around there. As usual, no definite plans until we start out !

We are thinking of going on mothers day weekend.... Would like to go some place "warm":):)

We had hoped to camp next weekend (March 5th weekend), but due to a change in a Boy Scout dinner we can't. :(   So it looks like our first trip will be April 7th to the 11th at Assateague Island National Seashore.  This is our annual Easter destination.  The last 2 years it has been cold and windy, so I hope this year is nicer. :)

Not sure when our first trip will be. We/I had planned on camping with the tpuc.com group, but I am flying to CA that weekend for some training on new equipment for work. It's not going to be as fun as it sounds, so you can still feel sorry for me. I had rather be camping.

But the training is for a new clinic I will be running out of our office (in addition to my existing job). So, I'm not sure how much camping I'll get this year anyway. The stress I'm feeling right now from this clinic startup is really bothering me (open date is April 5).

Sooooooo.......I think I'll need to go camping SOOOOOONNNN!!!

We HOPE to go camping at Easter, have not made plans because of changes in time off.  Right now waiting to find out about the kids school make up days and my college make up days.  If it works out that we have a four day weekend, we want to go camping.  If not we will go the lake and stay at the house.

We are soooooo ready to go camping!!!  I tried too hard to get a trip in the second weekend in Feb. but paid the price.  The state park we wanted to visit was closed for winter (new policy) and we stayed in a KOA next to the interstate.  Bad choice!  The KOA we usually visit in the NC mountians is very nice (Boone KOA), but this was little more than an expensive & muddy parking lot.  We tried to make the best of it, but gave up (1st time we officially "gave up" ) and went home.

My next break is coming in 2 weeks & I hope we can try again.  Considering a trip to the NC Zoo in Asheboro.

DH took the day to go up north yesterday, just to check and see if the snow is still too deep to get in.  (usually we manage to hold off til the first week of April to go up)  And of course, the snow was too deep to drive into the driveway.  so, our spring camping trip won't be anytime soon.   It's pretty much not comfortable camping until almost Memorial Day, altho sometimes there are a few nice weekends before then.  We've gone up for the Holiday weekend a few times when we seemed to be in some kind of bad movie.  Lots of people and lots of kids and lots of cold icy rain for 3 days straight.   And, we've stayed for the whole 3 days, thinking that "the weatherman must be wrong", "it's got to get better", "if we go home, it will get nice out".    Oh well, that's the price we pay for living in the state of Michigan.

We got the bug REALLY badly this past weekend.  Saturday was absolutely gorgeous.... beautiful clear blue sky, high in the mid 50s...we wanted to camp but realized NOTHING is in the PU....we cleared almost everything out when we winterized. So..we decided on a picnic and hike in the park. We drove to the park not too far away and went to the picnic area....GOOD GRIEF....looked like everyone around had decided to do the same thing.  The picnic ground was packed with people and bicycles.  We figured we'd just take a drive through the park, see if we could find a quieter place and drive back into the camping area at the other side of the park to see how many folks decided to brave the 20 something degree nights to enjoy the beautiful days.  There was one group of older boy scouts in one section, an older man and lady in a tent, and one other guy car camping.   The rest of the entire camping area was EMPTY...nice....quiet....beautiful....well, there's no "picnicking" in the campground...however, you CAN car camp...so...we paid the fee for one night's camping ...cheap rates at this NP...hung our little paid overnight camping sign on the post to mark our spot, and proceeded to have a very enjoyable non-camping, camping trip.   LOL  We unloaded all the "stuff" we'd brought...blankets for sitting on, wood for a campfire, charcoal for grilling, our cooler and picnic basket...  we did a little hiking during the mid afternoon then came back, grilled out a nice dinner, then built a big campfire and sat there just as if we were camping. When we got tired..instead of crawling in the tent or PU to sleep...we got in the car and drove the 20 minutes home!

It was a WONDERFUL day!

We know now we need to pick a time to take everything to the storage lot and reload the PU so it'll be ready the next time the bug bites!  There may be several weeks before we can dewinterize the water, but there might be other opportunities like this past weekend before then!

We're heading out this Friday, March 5th to the new Pine Grove KOA in PA.  Then we're headed to Charlestown Breachway SP in RI April 2nd.  After that we're headed back to the Pine Grove KOA for the COTOC Rally April 23rd.  If anyone needs info on these trips, head on over the the COTOC section here at PUT.

I'll be heading out in the next couple of weeks---March 17-27!  St. Andrews State Park (where I always go...lol).  And can't wait.  Right now it's in the low to mid 70's during the day and high 50's at night.  Perfect!  I have several books that I've got to read while lougeing on the beach!  yea! :)

We are going to Clear Creek State Park in PA on April 16th-18th. It is the first trip of the season with the PA Pop-Uppers.   I don't know if I can wait much longer!!!!
