On behalf of the ScCampers (the other California group) Welcome to California, Larry!

OC Campers

Welcome Larry.  Hope you enjoy our California weather.  Today was a little chilly.  I think only mid 60's.  We are just up the road from Irvine.  If you have any questions just let us know.

I didn't mean to leave out the socal campers in my first post....wish i had more time to meet/camp with you folks!

Hiya Larry, Welcome to the Golden State! How long you here for? I mean, we could throw together a rally in your honor in about, what.... 30 minutes? ;)

Too bad you are all the way down there in SoCal... If you'd have come up to the other half of the state you'd have seen the REAL california. :D

Larry,

Welcome...if you get a night free, drive west and stick your toe in the Pacific Ocean.

Scott--110 miles or so north of you, but can see the ocean from here.

Maybe we should call it the Larry Rally....

Call it what you want, but I'm stuck in the room with food poisoning.

Anybody ever eaten at Trophy's in Costa Mesa?

Hey! I was just in California March 11 to 16! I helped chaperone my daughter's high school band trip. We rode for 26 hours straight (both ways) on charter buses from Texas to get there. 4 Band directors and 16 chaperones took 160  high school kids to Anaheim. (Sounds like something a crazy person would do, doesn't it?)
We went to Disneyland where the band, divided into their concert groups, got to experience what it is like to be a studio musician. A Disney director coached the kids on how music is added to movies. The students performed the music from a movie scene, such as the west wing scene from Beauty and the Beast, wearing headphones and timing it out to the movie and then recording it. It was great to see the scene played on a big screen with their music added in.
Then, of course, we did the whole tourist thing- toured Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, Venice Beach, Universal Studios, etc. It was a lot of fun. The kids were very well behaved and were no problems.
What was funny, was that as we were riding on the bus from TX to CA, I kept looking for campground signs and RV dealers along the way. You see, this trip was during my spring break and we usually camp at that time so I guess I kinda missed it. But this was a chance to spend time my daughter and it is smething I'll always remember, especially when she leaves for college next fall (SNIFF!)

brainpause,  are you OK?  Nature's way of telling you that something is wrong in you body and that you ate some bad food!  There's nothing worse than it happening while you are away from home.  Whatever it was, I bet you won't eat that particular food again for a while.  Be sure to drink plenty of fluids.  UH-OH, well Dr. Mom B-flat said so.  ;)  :D

With that post, 2 thoughts come to mind: 1) He is either making up the food poisoning story so that he can avoid meeting us SCCampers, now that he has been reminded that California is home to TWO non-exclusive, non-serious camping clubs, or 2) the food poisoning is real, so if you haven't eaten at Trophy's in Costa Mesa, DON'T!!!!!  ;)

Actually, Larry I'm just kidding.  I hope that your food poisoning isn't too bad and that you feel better quickly.  I live just up the road from Irvine, in Foothill Ranch.  If you're a mountain biker, there are some awesome trails right next to my housing development...if you don't mind the mountain lions....

I don't know if you remember Conducter, but he was out here just a week or so ago from Colorado.  Judging by all the PUT members visiting our neck of the woods, apparently, Southern California IS the REAL California. :p

Are you better now, Larry?  Are you back at home and feeling more comfortable?  What do you think that you ate that caused the problem?  I remember getting sick after eating some seafood one time and I didn't touch it again for a long time.  My daughter once got some bad hamburger at  one of the nationally known chains and she wouldn't touch a hamburger for a long time.
