OK, here goes......for those who have met folks here on PUT and later went on to a real campout, was your impression of what the person(s) were like on the board different or the same when you met at a real live campout?

I have to say that I have camped with byrdr1, wahoonc & AirAngel, Flyfisherman, CoopersNest, and MrGadget and I found these folks to be the nicest and friendliest people I have ever met.  I definitely would camp with all of them again so as not to miss out on all the fun and the wonderful Pot Luck food!  I met all of them first on the old PUT message board.  My impression was that they would be an interesting and nice group of folks and they were much like I had pictured but even better when I met them in person.  As for the rest of the folks who thought I would be nuts....."You're gonna camp with some folks you met on the internet?" :yikes:   It was a very rewarding experience! :)  ;)  :!

I can't say I have met any of the current members, but the ones we met 2 years ago that have since just gone to GLPUC and stayed there, we had a blast and still camp with whenever possible.

Well, the only thing I can say is that they were honest.  Our first trip with them was our first trip in the PU and told them that, they said they'd sit at the site next to hours around the CF and watch and laugh as DH backed it in... and yes they did just that.  Waited till we were all set up to come over and introduce themselves.  It sure would have been nice to have a "little" help, but they told us that they would just watch and laugh and that they did.

Hope to camp soon with the new friends I have met this year here.

That why I ask for pull thru sites...... I hate trying to direct the camper in only to have a whole group staring at me !!:)

We met a number of board people (not bored people) at the Townsend, TN rally.  Without an exception (OK, maybe I was an exception) they were all nice people.  Most of the personalities and all of the appearances were different than I expected.  I didn't get many of the ages right either.

One that I did get right (personality wise) was Toni (wiininkwe).  A very pleasant woman who takes life as it comes.

The ones I camped with probably had a hard time figuring me out or as Grandpa used to say, "they've never seen anything like us before." :D   They were probably expecting me to provide a bluegrass band as entertainment.  I get requests for that quite a lot when I camp with other cyberfriends.

That's very much the same response when I was getting ready to marry a guy I met on the internet! ;)

I've met two from here while camping.....we weren't camping together... Cliff (GoneCamping) and Fintastic and they were both super nice! Cliff actually gave us all the info for our now favorite campground!

My first cyber friends which turned into real friend were cavman (He doesn't post much anymore) and Gone-Camping !

We drove all the way from Toronto to Northfolk to get a tent and some camping stuff from them ! We went with our DD to meet strangers we met on internet ! They were some of the nicest people I ever met ! Not to mentions Larry's girl friend :) DD kept playing with her :)

It was such a nice trip ! We enjoyed meeting them and had a short vacation ! LAter at the Eastern Rally (of last year) I met a whole lot of cyber friends, and they were all good people !

Not everyone who uses  internet is a Pervert or a stalker !  :)  :canada:

I've met a lot of nice people here and in person.

Except for that ONE pervert and stalker in NNC, and we all know who I am referring to without mentioning a name, they have all been really really nice.  Of course we all all united in protecting our children and property from THAT ONE pervert and stalker.  Fortunately, with all of us watching, it's easy to keep an eye on him, since we only have to watch half a PU.

This is the first time I've heard of a stalker on the west coast.  Whhhhhhy, the only one in the east is Topcat when he tried to kidnap camper Jones and her food on a campout. :yikes:

Did you tell DD you are not to do this?? Go meet a stranger you met on the internet.

Thanks, Austin, for the compliment!  (I think) LOL.  I've gotta say, I was impressed with your whole family, and your daughters especially.  (yes, I wsa impressed with you and PJ too, but after spending so much time working with youth, I tend to 'see' their good points first)  I met a whole lot of really wonderful people too, at the Townsend Rally, couldn't get over the site of all those popups taking over the campground, and the thought that all those very different people from different places and different backgrounds were together, getting along and having such a great time!!!   I was awed by all of you, to be honest, and will use you as a representation that everyone on this board is probably just as wonderful!

Absolutely ! We explained and discussed the whole thing with her ! I believe she is internet proofed already ! (I sure hope so)

Funny ~ he didn't strike me as the stalking type .... hmmmmmmmmmm

Kelly (who thinks gsmx2 is exactly the same in person as in cyberspace --- and not for the worse!)

(I got to meet gsmx2 and g-whiz for lunch when then drove through my fine state on their way east last year.  We had an awesome time ~ chatted and laughed like old friends!)

"Laughed like old friends!"  That's a really nice way of saying that G-Whiz and I had to take our teeth out we were laughing so hard.

Thanks kiddo.

Wow and I thought he was a nice guy.  I guess I shouldn't trust my own judgment. :) ,  but then I haven't camped with him.
