Rip in canvas

Well, I finally got a chance to set up our pop-up this afternoon only to have about a 1 1/2 to 2 foot rip occur when I pushed the shepards pole out on the brace over the bunk end. The rip is at the top bend in the metal brace that goes from one corner of the bed slide to the other. Probably puts a lot of wear and tear on the canvas in that spot.

Any ideas on how to fix it? New canvas is out, financially, for now. Knew finding that dead bat inside was a bad omen!!! Do you think if I sewed it with fishing line and then seam sealed it and covered it inside and out with duct tape, that would work?

Thanks!!!

In the PUT store, there are patch kits for both vinyl and canvas.  Might want to  check those out.  I have read good reviews of this product.  Good luck.

UPDATE!
After reading HersheyGirl's suggestion on the Canvas Patch kits, I tried to email the PUT store to see if I could get a kit overnighted, but my email at work wasn't working so I never got through. So at lunch I drove 35 miles to the nearest RV dealer and he stocked them. I picked up one and just finished the patching.
It worked like a charm! As long as the glue or whatever works long term, I'm a happy camper once again! Of course now I feel guilty that I didn't get it from the PUT store, so I think I'll have to go shopping there now!!!

That is wonderful and I am glad that it worked for you.  Be sure to post in the product review.  Happy shopping!
