Receiver type bike rack?

I am interested in getting a receiver style bike rack.  If you have one what is it and what do you like and/or dislike about yours?

I made my own for four bikes. It works great.  When I bought my popup used the previous owner had welded a 2" reciever to the back end for what ever reason, so I made my own 2" reciever type bike rack which I can also use on the TV if we decide to just go somewhere bike riding. The only thing is with four bikes on the back of the camper it makes the tongue weigh a bit less so I had a slight problem with sway, but not to bad. I installed a sway control and it took care of the problem.

I think ours is made by Acar Industries. Got it at Camping World. You can see it at our website mods page (click below on our sig).

It is a little loosey goosey, but I'm not afraid of losing the bikes or the rack. Some of the looseness comes from me drilling extra holes to make it "taller" to clear the camper for turning. However, there really isn't much need to do that, as I can make pretty tight turn anyway.

Another thing...it is a little hard to hook up the chains and plug, but that is only because I don't like getting on my knees. It also requires me to unload the bikes to unload our air conditioner (well...sometimes. I unloaded it this past weekend.)

Overall, I still like the bike rack. Gives me extra space for wood, the Quik Shade, the AC, and Blue Tote.

I just started shopping for a receiver style bike rack, I pulled up a bunch of differnt ones on the net; I'm alittle uneasy w/o knowing anything about them, I was gonna post to get some input from those that already have one...

We have a Thule.  It is a really nice rack.  It holds 4 bikes and you can also lock the bikes onto the rack.  We don't use it too much right now because we have the Yakima system for the popup but our neighbors use it all the time.  We are looking at maybe buying a Highlander by Fleetwood in the future and it has a rear receiver you can weld on.  We are hoping to be able to use it on the new popup.

I guess the only drawback was the price.  I think it cost apprx. $300.

I have the Yakima system for the PU, I am looking into getting the receiver type bike rack for hauling bikes for the Boy Scouts.   I am thinking about one of the racks that swings away to the side so you can access the rear of the vehicle with out having to unload the bikes.

On of my favorites is the Swagman 64600. It mounts on your existing drawbar, so you can use it with or without the trailer and since it uses your existing drawbar there's no lose of towing capacity as with some "integrated drawbar" designs.

I have the two Yakima Bars across my camper for the canoe.  I know I need to add the other bar for the bikes.  I need to know the Yakima No.'s for the bike holders.  I have four bikes to take along.  I thot of the 4 bike towing hitch from swagman....and still might...but I worry about that additional 1 foot to foot and a half extra distance before thacamper is hooked up.  Would it sway much?

Still I would like to know everything I need for 4 bikes and the Yakima Setup.

I had the roof rack installed by my Coleman/Fleetwood dealer 2 or 3 years ago.  When I had the replacement roof put on, the dealer installed the roof rack on the new roof.  The new roof has 2 tracks built in for the "feet" of the rack system to ride in.  I have no idea what the part numbers are for the cross bars or the "feet".  The bike trays I purchased myself at a local bike store and on ebay.  If you check out //www.yakima.com you can choose which bike trays you like.  They may also be able to tell you what you will need for your roof rack system.  What brand trailer do you have?

I also have the Swagman. I paid $107 for it at a local bike shop. I love it.

I use a just-rite bike rack.  I can haul the bikes, and put another ball on it to pull the popup.  http://www.justriteracks.com/default.asp  Was the only bike rack I found that could handle the trailer weight.  It might be more then you are looking for since you already have a rack on the popup, but someone else might find it usefull.
