Well, as promised, here is a review of our last trip to Guadalupe River State Park. As the park itself has changed little since our spring trip in 2003, I will spend no time describing the park. If you

We recently (5-12 to 5-16) had a WONDERFUL time at Guadalupe State Park and just by chance we met Tom and Mary Lou! Talk about a small world! Before leaving I had read your first post about last year's experience at this wonderful Hill Country get away but didn't put it together until just now that the nice folks from Boerne we met are one and the same as you camped with on your first trip (and this one)!! We enjoyed sharing their dessert with them one night by campfire. They are truly fine folks. Tom and I have worked many years in the same industry. Mary Lou had found a baby hummingbird she was trying to save, I wonder what happened to it. Perhaps they will come here and see my reply to your post.

Thanks for the great information about this state park and how to get there. The trip down 281 was smooth and the scenery awesome.

Hi Cathy & Jimmy,

Glad you went down there and had such a good time!  Not surprised you met Tom and Mary Lou.  That's their "home" park and they are out there a good chunk of the time.  Great people!  Wish we lived a little closer together!

Pleased that you found my ramblings of some help.  I enjoy putting them together after our trips.  Allows me to share the fun we have and helps me to "lock" the memories into my brain.  Long ago found that what I don't write  down, slips away all too fast.

Going to send Tom an e-mail and let him know we've been in touch.  He'll get a kick out of it.  I don't think he's using this 'board any more so that's the only way he'll know the "connection" has been made.

Have a great weekend and happy camping!
