Just checking in on the Verizon cell modem. Sitting here at the picnic table at Ocean Waves Campground in Cape Hatteras. The weather is unusally cool, almost cold! Light wind out of the North helping keep it down. In all the years I've been camping down here, this is the first time I've actually turned the A/C off and opened the windows. There are fireworks on the beach, coming from the vicinity of the KOA campground. Once those are over, we're suppose to head down to Ramp-23 and drive out onto the beach, some of the locals (relatives) are having a bon-fire on the beach!

I am so green with envy.  I wish I was camping on the outer banks.

Gone-Camping - based upon your help in 2002, I know exactly where you are / what you're talking about. I loved it down there - I only wish I could've brought my '89 F-150 4x4 to fish from the beaches around the Oregon Inlet. I had to bring my CrewCab Powerstroke F-250 (it's a 4x2) because we had too many people coming on that trip and needed a back seat. BTW, not sure if I told you, but we had to drive up to the Wright Brothers memorial one night because we ran out of propane and the Texaco across the street was closed... That was the closest propane we could find! Good memories! Thanks for your help!

Sunday night update...

No fireworks tonight, at least not yet! It was seafood night here at the campsite. Kathy (Acer's DW) and Cindy (DGF) went to Avon to get the goodies at a fish market. We had fried flounder, fried scallops, steamed jumbo shrimp, crab cakes, and Blue Crab. Kids got chicken off the grill & home fries.

So right now we're just kickin back, watching the Coca Cola 600, and tossin down a few cold ones! The weather is still unseasonably cool, to almost cold. It was suppose to rain today, but what ever was out there turned into a minor sprinkle earlier today. Had great weather later in the afternoon, and got some quality beach time too!!! Oh, and I got a good sunburn on my bald spot, seems I forgot to put sunblock up there where things are thinning out!!!:D
