1. Do you bring one?
2. If so which brand?
3. Size?
4. Setup time?
5. Number of people for setup?
6. Cost?
7. Happy With it?
8. Does your camper have one instead?
9. I'm pretty nosey huh?:)

I had one on my last popup so I never brought one but I did have a few cheap awning type things like the EZ-UP but nowhere near the quality of the EZ-UP.

For the hybrid I thought I would try the Paha Que screen room. I bought the 12X12 not realizing just how huge it would be. I am not sure how many campsites would actually hold the camper, truck and screenroom. The Paha Que screenroom has 6'6" entry and an 8'6" center height with privacy panels all the way around. Granted it is a bit pricey but I figured the lifetime warranty and quality would be worth it.

We have just about decided to set up the screenroom fulltime on the lawn and put the patio furniture in it for the summer and buy one made for the camper because the 12X12 Paha Que is so big.
I had the Paha Que screenroom set up over Memorial weekend while we were gone camping. A storm moved through with winds around 50-60 mph for a short duration. The storm had no rain but just big wind gusts. I heard from my dad on Sunday that my screenroom had blown over and pulled all of the stakes (I had 22 holding it down) and also broke a pole.

After I got home I figured I would order a new pole. I called Paha Que and told them what happened, they told me they would send me a new pole (all pieces shock corded) free!! The pole had a nice bend in it where it broke so I told them it was the corner pole. After inspecting the entire screenroom and putting all of the poles in the bag I realized I made a mistake and it was the roof poles not the corner ones. I called them tonight and told them I hoped they had not shipped the poles because I gave them the wrong info. He told me he tracked it to a FEDEX location about 20 miles from my house. He said we will send you the roof poles tomorrow so I asked what to do with the new corner poles? He said well I guess you probably could use a spare corner pole so just keep it. I guess the customer service and warranty were well worth it!!!

Guess we mayorder the screenroom that fits the camper after all.

BTW, I bought the PAHA QUE from the PUT Store

Tarps, screenrooms, AAR's, I've got them all! LOL

I like the AAR's the best because they're attached to the trailer. But, for pure ease of setup and takedown, an EZUP setup might be best. I can't remember the exact store, (and can't find it on their websites), but we were in Target, Walmart & Kmart this past weekend (don't ask why) and in ONE of them was a 10'x10' EZUP with the screen panels, all in one box, for $70. I was going to buy one but SHE wouldn't let me. If we get to any of the stores this weekend, I'll check to see if they still have them.

I have the Coleman/Fleetwood AAR for the PU.  I also have the 10 X 12 Paha Que screen room.  I bring both of them on most trips, but don't set them up for just a weekend.  I will be using both of them for our trip to Assateague Island next week.  It takes about 15 minutes to set the AAR up by myself.  The Paha Que takes 2 to set it up and only takes about 5 to 7 minutes to set up.  I am happy with both of them and no you are not nosey. :)

We have the AAR that goes with our Coleman camper and we also have a 12x14 screen room that stands separately. Love the AAR, but the screen room is great for those times when we need to get together with our camping friends, whether to eat, play cards or just get out of the rain. Over Memorial Day, we didn't set up the AAR, but did have the screen room up, and partially enclosed it with tarps to protect from blowing rain, it worked so well, we just left it up and will use it on our next campout over the 4th. W're planning on taking granddaughters, all ranging in the same age group, averaging around 6 yrs. It will be a great place for Barbie dolls, and also a good place for a little lesson on making dream catchers and some beading.

BTW, the screen room we have was bought at Walmart, Topcat has one like it.  It's kind of a pain to set up, but really nice once it's up.  I did send for some shock cording to add to the poles, I think that will make things easier.  There's pics of it in my webshots.

I'm in the same boat as Topcat! Got 'em all! Don't use them all, but I've got them!

I have a Screen Room that attaches to the camper and awning. I've used it maybe 3 times. Goes up fast and I can do it by myself

I have an EZ-Up type shelter, purchased through REI, (BEFORE I found PUT!!!), it's very good quality, purchased the screen panels with it. It was kind of pricey, but not outrageously so. I CAN put it up myself, but it's much easier with two people.

Most of the time, these two stay home, and I simply use my cheap Walmart or Kmart Picnic Shelter, (If I drink enough wine the mosquitos fly into the campfire and explode after they bite me!), and some Off Mosquito coils and candles scattered around.

We have a Greatland screen room that we bought on the internet.  It's pretty big at 11 x 14 but completely fits over any picnic table we've tried it out on.  Here's a series of pictures of what it takes to set it up.  All of 5-6 minutes.

When we bought our PU, we told the Starcraft guy that the Coleman PUs were giving a screen room for $50 if you purchase the camper.  The Starcraft dealer was trying to get rid of all of his new pop-ups and was selling them at invoice (we even got a copy of the reciept showing how much he paid for it).  To make the sale, he said he'd match the price of the screen room.  To our surprise, it ended up being a $300 AAR instead of a screen room!  He must have misunderstood me, or Starcraft didn't make screen rooms, but I wasn't complaining!

One person can set it up, but it's much easier with two.  Not sure on size, but it attaches to the awning, so it's the same size as the awning.  We use the outdoor carpet under it.

Set-up time is probably 15 - 20 minutes (depends on if there are rain clouds approaching!).

We also have a very cheap screen room from Wally World that we put around our picnic table when we're going to be at one place for a long time.  It's a total pain to put up, and every one of the five of us ends up holding a pole trying to keep it standing while DH put more poles together.  It was about $40.  I would NOT recommend it.  Not sure about the size, but it's the cheapie one at Wal-Mart that is just a bit bigger than a picnic table.

We have the screen room that came with the pop up but we also have a Hillary screen tent.  We purchased it a several years ago for $109.00.  It is a fairly large screen tent that a picnic table can fit inside with plenty of walk around room.  It also has four flaps that can be put up and used as awnings on all four sides or they can be tied down and used for privacy or to keep rain or wind out.  I don't know if they make them anymore, I haven't seen one in quite sometime.

Ahhh..this is the one we were looking for and it doesn't seem to be made anymore!! Target carries Greatland but the screen room has corded poles now. We just finally broke down and bought the Coleman 13 x 13 one from Target. We've been debating whether we'd use one for several  years and actually had wished on a couple of recent occasions that we'd had one.   We looked and looked and couldn't find anything reasonable that seemed that easy to put up. For the amount we may actually use this thing, even though all we've heard about the PahaQue is terrific, it was just way too pricey for us.   We looked at the newest versions of Greatland, the Wenzel's, the Eddie Bauers, Eureka (another expensive one) and finally decided on the Coleman simply because we've had such fantastic luck with every Coleman tent we own (we own three!!).  We haven't had a chance to even set it up yet. It looks similar to our tents which are all easy to set up.  I'll post a review once we try it out.

We got our screenroom with the Utah. We have never used it. It is hard to go camping for a week and that would be the only time we would use it if it was buggy. We camp mostly weekends and we would not bother setting it up .

Isn't there a pop-up screen house like the pop hampers and pop shelters? I thought I saw one on the web somewhere. It was smaller though.

Message for Trlboy:

I do like the layout of your 5th wheel. My DH and I talk about getting one someday but we need to have more time to use it. He owns his own business and it is hard to get away for long.
Can you access any part of the trailer when traveling? Can you use the slide out while still attached if you pull over for lunch to access the kitchen? How big is it? Just curious. What size truck can pull it??
Thanks for the info. PI
