Hello everyone!

Just wanted to take a quick moment and say hello. I just recently
purchased my first pop-up, a 1972 Coleman. I'm a single mom of a 12 year
old daughter looking forward to doing some camping! I'm sure I'll have
lots of questions as we go along! I hope you all don't mind some
seemingly dumb questions! :screwy: I'd just rather ask them here in a forum
like this, then not ask and end up really doing some damage to someone
or something!   :yikes:

I look forward to getting to know everyone!  :p

Welcome aboard, campinmom! And feel free to ask lots of questions...the folks here will have some great answers. No matter how dumb you may think the question is, someone here has probably asked the same thing at one time or another and gotten an answer!

I've had my PU for almost two years now, but still consider myself a relative "newbie" compared to some of the folks who post here. I've asked my share of dumb questions, believe me! And will probably ask many more. (But my dumb questions have saved my from making even dumber mistakes!  ;) )

Hi Camping Mom and welcome to PUT.

Ask away with the questions, we love them. :eyecrazy:

If you are interested in camping with a group check out the COTOC club forum here at PUT.

http://www.arveeclub.com/forumdisplay.php?f=41

Some members have opened their trips to others and we have a group trip scheduled for Hickory Run SP the last weekend in September.  There is also a PU Rally in Gettysburg July 12th week.

Have a great time camping. :)

Welcome.Hope we can help with some of your questions. This fine group of pop up camping enthusiasts has sure made things easier, and more enjoyable, for us.

Welcome! If you haven't had a chance to use your new trailer yet, make sure you do a simple "driveway camp" or something close to home the first time. This really helps you figure out how things work. It will also help you establish a routine for set-up and take-down, without the pressure of being far from home if you have a problem. And you will have problems... we ALL had them, and laugh about them now. So make sure you take a relaxed attitude and a good sense of humor with you on your upcoming camping adventures.

Camping with a group is a GREAT way for a newbie to meet new friends, learn new things, and have a wonderful time. If I am ever on the Left Coast, I wouldn't hesitate to camp with COTOC and meet that bunch in person.

Although, whether or not they'd want one of us California *Nick-Neff-Cough* members ("our" club name) camping with them is another matter entirely... ;)

Again, Welcome!

Don't worry about the questions you ask.  Everyone around here is happy to help.

As has been pointed out, camp at or close to home one or two times.  This way you have access to things you might have forgotten.  Also, group camping is a lot of fun.

Have fun with your camping.

Hi Campinmom and welcome!:W

You've found a great place--not only for information on the workings of your pop up and pop up camping--but also for community, friendship, support and belly laughs! I would encourage you to check out rallies that may be held in your area. My family is part of the NNC/SCC group and if it weren't for them and this board, we probably wouldn't camp as often as we do, and we defintiely would not have made the friendships that we have.

My mom was a single mom too and had a pop up camper when I was about the same age as your daughter. I still remember the wonderful times we had camping, even though I now realize it probably wasn't that easy for her. I wish you and your daughter a future of camping trips that will stay in your hearts forever!

Tim was too modest to say, but be sure to click on the link to his Web site. It is a labor of love to pop up camping info and is very comprehensive. :)

Thanks, Lori!  I was gonna mention that, too.  Can't believe it took us this long to tell her about that!

Welcome Campinmom!!   :W

You've come to the right place ~ we'll take good care of you and yours!  :D
If I were on either coast I'd jump at the chance to camp with either of those groups!  Some really great people.

Ask away ~ no such thing as a dumb question, seemingly or otherwise.  We've all been where you are.

As another single camping mom ~ I'd encourage you to check things out with COTOC.  It's always a bit easier to camp with groups when you have kid(s).

Welcome to PUT :) this is a great place to learn and ask questions.
rember there are no dumb questions, the only dumb question is the one not asked.  Over the years I have learned a lot from this site and have not made to many SPUT(stupid pop up tricks)

We have moved up to a hybrid but still like this site and will be going to the rally in Pa. next month.

Campinmom, welcome to PUT.

You will get answers to all fo your questions and some more here ! This group of people helped me buy a PU and now I am restoring it with their help (well, that is an understatement as some of them are very actively involved with it).

Look forward to hearing your camping stories and questions.

Welcome!!!!!!!
This is a great group of folks, all willing to assist in any way they can.  The demographics are interesting in that no one job, position, marital situation, class, seems to dominate.  Everybody loves to camp, share information, and.....EAT (big time)!   Welcome!

Campaholics

Welcome aboard,
The only dumb question is the one you don't ask.
