You know that occasionally you want something to eat.

Well going thru the grocery store a while ago, I decided that I wanted Rice Krispie Treats; just sounded so good.

Bought 2 of the smaller size boxes and made a batch, finished the one box of cereal, then went to make more, and the next box didn't have the recipe on it.  For years, I have always relied on the box having it.  Went to the store and none of the boxes in the store had the recipe.

I don't know how many people keep the recipe, but if you have it on the box now, cut it out and put it away; I think they are not printing it on the boxes any longer.

Yeah, I found that out the hard way with several things.  I had to search on the internet for the recipes I needed at the time.

Nestle used to package chocolate covered raisins in the baking section with the other chocolate chips.  On the bag, they USED to have a recipe for oatmeal chocolate covered raisin cookies.  They stopped printing that recipe.  WHY would you sell chocolate covered raisins in the baking section WITHOUT that recipe!  LUCKILY, I had saved the recipe from an old bag with the intention of writing it on a recipe card!  Doesn't matter anymore, because I can't seem to find those chocolate covered raisins in the baking aisle anymore.  I use regular raisinettes in the large bag from the candy aisle.  :D

I can remember them WAY back when I was younger and it has always been on the box somewhere, I can even remember that it was on the side of the box for a while, then they did like a recipe card on the back, now poof, gone...

Could you post it on the Recipe Board so it will not get lost again?

Thanks!

Does anyone else remember when they were made with Karo syrup?   I can remember vaguely, before the marshmallows became popular, that you use to have to mix them with butter and Karo.  It seems like they had a richer taste then, too.   Sometimes I use a few tablespoons of peanut butter in mine when I make them, sometimes some butterscotch chips, and often chocolate chips.

LOL..when I was a little girl, I liked the light Karo syrup on buttered biscuits! ;>   Only my grandma would let me eat it!  hehehe

We used to use the Light Karo Syrup on French Toast instead of syrup... YUMMY!

As for Rice Krispie treats, my personal favorite is actually made with Frosted Flakes instead of Rice Krispies.  The first time I had it like that was around Christmas one year when a friend made a green frosted flake wreath dotted with red M&M's.

I haven't used Karo syrup in about 23yrs and I don't even want to discuss why I had to use it.
