When we bought our PU, the guy that sold it to us showed us where he had had another bike rack that was mounted through the roof. He told us that he filled it,  sealed it and hadn t had any problems. Well we hadn t had any for the past 4 years until this summer. We had quite a few downpours in a row, and when we were eating dinner, it started leaking on DS s head. I ended up putting those huge first aid bandages with tape up for the next day. (Hey!, It worked!!) LOL DH parked it right in the garage after we emptied it and made sure there was no water damage. (Thats right my Mountaineer is on the street!) What is the best product and most affordable to fix this? I had mentioned it on the other board and got a few suggestions, but I can t remember any right now!!

MPTDATI had a similar problem, only it wasn t holes from a bike rack. It was just where the screws were that pieced the roof together.

I went to my local (Coleman/Palomino) dealer, and they gave me some stuff that looked like a caulking tube, that you use in a caulking gun, but it needs kerosene or some other non-water solvent to work with it. It was much gooey-er, but hopefully it did the trick.

The name of the stuff is Geocel 2300 Construction Tripolymer Sealant, " formulated for construction and roofing applications."

I " fixed"  my roof, pulled it out to the driveway and put a sprinkler and a good rainstorm on it, and it didn t leak. I won t believe it though, until I am far far away from home in a storm and it doesn t leak. But the preliminary looks good.
