Boy this hurts.  Our dog Mocha just died.  She was an English Springer Spaniel.  We got her from the animal shelter in October.  She was a great dog.  Stuck to me like my own skin.  She was a great camping dog too.  Hung around the camper all the time (untied most of the time) and never left our campsite.  She always greated me with a "smile" when I came home from work every day.  She was well behaved.  I could walk her without a leash. She would stop when I called even when she was chasing a squrriel or rabbit.  She was a great dog.

This afternoon I had at the park for her walk.  She is in some tall grass, "bunny hopping" through the grass and she landed on a stick that went through her chest right into her heart.   I was 2 blocks for the animal hospital and she died after about 5 mins there.

The sudden death is hard to handle.  My daughter is in pieces right now.  She'll be okay but this was her first pet that she lost.

Thanks for letting me share...  we already miss her so much.

I'm so sorry to hear of this awful loss.  Our pets are as important to us as the rest of our family, and such a sudden tragedy is a heartbreak.  I know that you'll miss Mocha, and you'll have good memories of her for a long time.

Oh my gosh...this is so awful to hear!  I can't imagine the pain you and your family must feel over the loss of your pooch friend. They become just another loved family member.  You and your family will certainly be in our prayers.

Awwwww, man-- I've opened your post a couple of times, and then closed it, not knowing how to put my reply into words. Well, here goes:

Having shared most of my life with family pets, it was inevitable that I would have to say goodbye to them sooner or later. Losing a pet to old age or sickness is heart-wrenching. Losing a cherished pet to tragedy is even harder... I know from where I speak. However, I can only imagine the pain Mocha's passing in circumstances such as this must be causing you.

My deepest and most sincere condolences for the loss of your pet, friend, and companion to you and your family.

Such a horrible event :( I am so sorry that Mocha has left you for the other side. Please remember all the good times you had with him, how he ran and jumped and played :) That should keep your heart warm ....

Oh, I am so, so, sorry!  That post brought tears to my eyes!  You do have the Rainbow Bridge poem, right?

She was with you such a short time, but you saved her life and gave her an obviously far better one than she had ever known.  I hope your daughter understands how all the love you guys showed her gave her a better life by far than most dogs ever know.

I'm like AbDiver.  There are just no words...  :(

Thanks to all of you for your kind words and support.  It really does help.  My daughter has read many of the replies and she has said that it helps too.  You are a wonderful community full of support and comfort during hard times and smiles and laughs during good times.  Thank you so much!

How horrible.  I can only imagine the pain you are experiencing right now.  It hurts me to think of what you are going through.  I will pray for your family.  Losing a pet is losing a family member.

I am so sorry for your aching heart and for your daughter.  Even years later after losing  pets, tears come to my eyes when I think of them.  Like losing a beloved family member, there is no way to replace their unique presence in our lives.  They are a special gift to us from our Creator and I  believe that they await us in heaven--otherwise, how could it truly deserve to  be called  "heaven"?

MommaMia

Losing someone you love is always so hard... and you had such a short time together.  But it sounds like she had a wonderful life with you.  And she died doing something she loved.  Sorry for your pain and heartache.
