I have never stayed there but here is a review and it looks pretty positive.

This is a great campground. We had an awesome sight with a view of the water and we were surrounded by trees. I called the week beforehand and the KOA employee seemed shocked that the sight was available. He said there must have been a cancellation. I hoped for the best and it exceeded my expectations. We had about a 75 foot path through tall grass to the water. We were entirely surrounded by trees but close to the bath house and playground. I do not like open sites, but the open sites on the water were great too. I walked around the campground several times and saw lots of good waterfront sites. Bath houses were clean, staff was friendly and we came across no loud campers. It was a great week in Maine. Plenty of stuff to do at Acadia National Park and the local lighthouses. I would recommend this campground to all.

I checked out a few campground on Mt. Desert Island, but not the KOA.  It is easy to find though.  Just take the only road onto the island and it is right there on the right. :)

We stayed there last Labor Day weekend and enjoyed it very much.

I thought that it was a little pricey, but in defense we had two of the waterfront sites.  One of them was right on the small beach and was like camping alone.

The people were very friendly.  Bring your own wood though as it is VERY expensive.

There is a shuttle that will take you into Bar Harbor; where you pick up the park shuttle to go alost anywhere on the island.  Also, the pie lady.  A woman came around every day about 5 pm with a station wagon full of freshly baked pies.  That alone did it for me.
