We have been very busy and have not camps sence yuciapa. Monday I was able to get a beach front campsite for friday and saterday at point mugo state beach. We left home just before 3 pm at 3:50 our camper was hit broadside by a car going 70. Suzanne, kaylee,myself and jewels were in the truck. All 4 of us walked away not a scatch. Our camper, everything behind the wheels was torn off and spread over the freeway by the first impact. The first impact caused the camper pass the truck tearing off the front storage box and contents, and the truck to spin around and hit the very steep imbankment allong the freeway the , when we hit the imbankment the roof of the bayside seperated from the twisted ruins and hit the truck throwing what was left in the camper out. Luckily the truck and camper climbed the imbankment in one piece and stopped.
We are all well but very unhappy I will find a place to post the photos its not pretty.

Tony,

Praise God that you guys are ok - I know how scary this can be.....  we were hit on the SLO grade 2 years back - but not this bad.  If there is anything we can do, please let us know.

Tony and Suzanne, I am so glad you guys are ok.  Thank God nobody was hurt.   Hopefully, the other party has insurance and your camper will be able to be replaced.  Was your truck totalled also?

Tony and Suzanne,

Thank goodness it was the camper and not the truck that got hit.  These are times to count blessings to let the negatives get overridden.  Be glad everyone was OK.  How was "the other guy?"

The "other guy" in the BMW's car was totaled.  Fortunately, no one in that car was hurt either.  It's a miracle that no one was injured, including our dog that flew 50 ft. in her kennel over the top of the truck and landed under the overpass.  The trailer landed along side a semi-truck that was parked in the emergency lane, and the truck was on the on-ramp at that point.  It was a miracle we didn't hit the truck or was hit by anyone coming onto the freeway.  It was fully loaded and we probably would have been killed if we hit it.  Our truck is possibly totaled also.  There is extensive damage where the trailer came around and hit the side of the truck.  The front end has extensive damage underneath where we hit the embankment.  We won't know until the adjuster can look at it.  The adjuster said they wanted to fix the tent trailer and Tony told them to save themselves the trouble and just bring a dump truck.  It was obliterated, there was not one salvagable part on it.  The guy hit the door straight-on and shoved it where the fridge used to be.  The frame was curled up like a pretzel, the roof was severed off, it was just horrible.  I still can't believe everyone could walk away like we did and that no other cars were involved being that it was 4 pm on a Friday night in LA.  ~Suzanne.

Wow!  Glad to hear that everyone is alright.   :)

Hopefully your insurance co. will do right by you.  Hold fast with them and you'll get it resolved I'm sure.

Here's another recent no-injury PU (a 2004 none-the-less) crash that happened in AZ;

After seeing those pictures, it is a miracle that no one was hurt. I am amazed that with so much damage, everyone is fine. I'll bet the'll be some sore muscles though. Someone was really riding and watching over you.

As my husband says, any crash you can walk away from is a good crash.  I don't understand how the BMW broadsided you on the freeway.  You're not usually making turns on the freeway.

You said everything was a loss on the trailer.  Look the bright side:  it looks like your awning survived :p .  Sorry.  Just trying to bring a little humor to your difficult situation.

My sister totaled her brand new Jayco on their first trip out.  A guy clipped the back bumper of the trailer going on the grade near Magic Mountain, which sent the trailer sideways.  It ended up alongside the van, slamming into the side, sending my sister across the lanes.  The only thing that saved them was a broken down old car in the right emergency lane.  She hit that and it kept them from going over the ledge.  Totaled both the trailer and the van.  Can you imagine the poor guy who came back to get his out of gas car and found the trunk was now in the front seat, courtesy of my sister's van?

Wow!! it's obvious the adjuster hasn't seen the PU. actually it looks like the Awning is unskathed so does that mean it's repairable :rolleyes: ..I say total loss
I'm just gald you are all okay. looking at those pictures brings back chilling memories (but without the PU. ). Hope everything gets settled quickly. We have AAA and they had me in a new truck in 6 days.
