Thanks so much for your continued support, we will certainly need it.

Cajun, welcome back, you were one of the first posters I relied upon when I joined up here 3 or 4 years ago now.  I followed the story of your son an another site and was so saddened when I learned of his passing.  Now reading your post, I felt I was with you as you sat in the popup thinking of your son and as any parent would my heart felt so heavy with your loss.  You know and take such comfort that Alex is in a better place and for that I'm happy for you and your family.  But you too must know you gave that little boy so many wonderful gifts and not in the material sense, but of the pure and simple giving of your time spent with him camping and other family pursuits and he reveled in it.

Your upcoming story will become a treasured PUT magazine article, I look forward to reading it because with its sadness will come such inspiration.  God Bless.

Though I just found your thread a few minutes ago, I feel somewhat close to you guys.  It is not our son that is ill, but my wife.  She is currently going through chemotherepy every Monday, for her Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.  She is constantly nutrapinic (low blood counts.)  They had been keeping her in the hospital with IV drip antibiotics, trying to get her safe again.  Finally, they said to just go home, take the antibiotics and other meds at home, and if she gets sicker, to come back in. They are also talking about doing bone marrow transplant too.

Our three year old knows that his mommy is sick, and it is very hard on him.  He knows that we have fun when we go camping, so he keeps asking to go, and he specifically says that mommy has to come too.

Anyway, sorry for rambling.  I am sad, with tears in my eyes, to read about your loss.  Our kids are the best part of life!

I'm going to add you guys to our prayer chain, and keep you in our prayers.

Hang in there.

Steve;

Best wishes to your wife, I had treatement for hodgkins Lymphoma over a year ago. I am happy to say I am cancer free right now. Best of luck.

Cajun,

Keep in touch Ray and I look forward to hearing from you and pray for you and your family quite often.

Steve,

The progress they have made on non-hodgkins has been incredible. My Father had the disease and we were informed the things they did during his time has educated the medical research so much. I work with 2 survivors of this cancer and am glad to report they are in submission/remission and are doing well.

I did loose my Father at the young age of 45, (20 years ago) this is the man that started me camping, a legacy that will surely be passed on.

This post is made in loving memory of my Father

Support your Leukemia/Lyphoma fundraisers in your area! It's worth the cause, cause we are working on a cure!

Just Me

Our thoughts and prayers are with you also.

As a tribute to Alex maybe next year we all can all camp together and do a fund raiser in his name. Just a thought.

This is an AWESOME idea!

I agree, a fundraiser campout would be most excellent!

Cajun,  Tell us where and when. The rest of us would be glad to follow and help with details.

What a great idea!

Cajun, it is so good to see you posting again.  You have many friends here who have sent you their loving prayers all through these sad and difficult times, mine among them, and your loss is ours, too.

The years you had him, and the loving memories, can never be taken from you  Your faith--and Alex's--inspires all of us.

We are sorry to hear of your loss.  While reading through this conversation I believe we all feel the presence of Alex. Our family joins with this group in sending our thoughts and prayers.  Faith holds us together.  Action is the next step and I too see the Alex fundraiser as a great activity.

Steve
We have added Campers3 to our prayer list.

Cajun,

I know this is a hard time for you and your family, But, we will all keep praying.
If you agree to have a fund rasier in memory of Alex where would you like to have it? All the funds could go to the Leukemia/Lyphoma, if this is where you want it to go. It looks like I have a lot of help from campers on the board to do this. All you need to do is accept the offer. It wouldn't be until sometime next year, We will leave the date up tp you. we could have a long weekend.

I'm so sorry that I have been out of it that I didn't even know of your sons condition but reading your post brought tears to my eyes.  I can't imagine your loss but as a parent I know how much I love my own children and how much they love camping like your son.

I'm sure he thought he was one of the luckiest kids around being able to spend all that time camping and it would sure be nice to hear of a tribute of him and his love of camping, it will make all our hearts feel good.

I hope God continues to bring peace to your family and that you are able to cherish all the time you had together.

and campers 3, I'll also pray for your wife as well.

Linda
