If you had to do it all over again, and were buying new, Which popup would you buy? And which would you avoid? And what would you just have to have in it?

I would buy a Fleetwood, but mainly because of the quality dealer that we have locally. If there were a Palomino dealer close by, I would consider them, because we have sure been happy with ours.

I'd buy the Jayco Qwest 10 all over again! About 3 grand less than a Coleman 8' box, more room and 4 plus years later, the quality seems just as good or better!
If I were to skip a PU and go directly to a hybrid, I would probably choose the Jayco Jayfeather 23B, Light, airy and roomy, or the Rockwood Roo 23B which appears to be a very close floor plan. That will probably be my next move- a Hybrid.

When we have touched on this subject before I was adamant that a hybrid would be our next purchase....but then I spent some time at the dealer looking at the new fleetwoods....sigh.  I did not see the new hemlock with the new name, but its brother without the slide out was pretty awesome.   On the other hand my DW is convinced we should be happy with what we have.    She is right....of course she is....but, but...

Let's see how she feels after this next trip.   On the other hand, we loved every minute of "Hermes" our PU on our last long trip.  We have issues, but its part of the family now.

Well I assume you're limiting choices to Pop-up's?!?! Since I already have a Hybrid, this would be a very difficult choice for me since I doubt going back to a PU would be in the cards.... But if I HAD TO CHOOSE ONE.... well, I swore I'd never buy another Fleetwood product again, and as nice as some of them are I just might have to eat my words if this scenario were to happen. I'd look hard at the new High-wall units. However, I did see Flaggstaff's Hiwall but didn't care for it. Now if Starcraft has something similar I'd probably make the top choice. I did look over the George & Cindy Hurd's hiwall Fleetwood at the Spring Fling and really like what I saw...except of course the name tag!!!

They do. :) We have been looking at the Travelstar hybrids and our 3 y/o kept going in and out of the Starcraft PUs on the lot. They have a couple of models now that have residential height countertops and you don't have to break down the galley to pop down. They're quite nice.

We absolutlely love our Coleman Sun Valley, but setup and take down are starting to get to me. We just bring too much stuff that we can't "do without"!! If we had to do it over again, I think I might push for the Travelstar or Coyote hybrid with the triple bunks (and an interior height of at least 6'6").

oops....sorry!

We have an 02' Utah CP with the 03 roof, yakima bike racks...........my kids named it "Hermes"..........our TV is a 02 E150 Traveler.

I research things to death before I buy something. :eyecrazy:  I found out that every single PU I looked at were all basically the same, or could be made to be the same. So for me it came down to price and service. I went with a Jayco because of their parts availability( I live 2hrs from the plant) and because I could get the same thing others had but a bit cheaper. So far Ive got 2yrs and close to 6,000 miles on mine without a hitch.( well, there is that hitch on my truck  :screwy: )

well if I was going to buy another PU I would get another Niagara. I love ours, but I'm actually looking into getting  a hybrid. I'm getting more and more spoiled in my old age and want as little work as possible setting up. I just want to set up my chair and have a cold one :!
on long trips would be nice to be able to stop and make lunch etc at any rest area

If I were buying today it would be one of the high sided PUs.   :)

I had a 2001 viking Legend 2480ST and if I bought another popup it would be another Viking. Value for the $$ seemed to be way above what the others are. I paid $6200 new and it had everything with the exception of AC and a slide out. It was a 12 foot box with a storage trunk and "TWO" dinettes and a water heater. One u-shaped dinette and one regular. The u-shaped made a great sitting area and the center cushion was removeable to expose a step to get into the bunkend.

I have seen many popups for double that price with no more to offer. Heck for a little more than double that price I got a fully loaded Hybrid.

Before we bought our Fleetwood we had seen few other brands.  Since then we have lloked at Starcraft PU's, Coachman PU's and Viking.  None of them inspired us to want a change.  We just looked at the 05 fleetwoods, I think theyre very nice, the newer look is in line more with the expensive TT's.  Fleetwood has nice optional features.

We love our PU but with the kids we need either a PU w/ a slide out or a hybrid.

I've been looking carefully at some of the higher side Starcraft seriew PUs.  I wouldn't buy another Bayside, only because I'm not happy with how they changed it around.  It's all opposite & I'm confused because it looks like they shifted the CG back when they moved the slideout closer to the rear bumper.

I've begun considering hybrids too.  DH isn't sure he'd still want canvas - he's tired of the "damp" feeling we often get in the evenings.

We would buy a Jayco again. The dealer and the manufacturer have been great. We've had zero problems. The one thing we would love to have would be a trunk. It would be great to store chairs, hoses, chocks, etc...
