Hi, all!  I haven't been around this message board in a few months --been traveling, entertaining family from out-of-town, & other various "life events".  Anyway, I wanted to post our latest experience:

Aside from meeting 2 members of the GLPUC & their families at this outing & thoroughly enjoying their company, it was THE WORST camping trip I've endured in the 30+ years I've been camping!

The campground: Yogi Bear's Jellystone Campground & Resort in Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada.

Quiet hours (11 PM to 6 AM) were not enforced.  PERIOD.  People of all ages & sizes cut through our site.  In fact, two guys walked through our site around 11 AM on Saturday & when I looked at them in disgust & said, "Hey, guys!  Please don't cut through our campsite!"  The reply from the one carry a can of beer said, "Sorry, I didn't see any yellow tape."  Profanity was rampantly shouted mostly at night.  However, neither daylight nor the presence of young children were a deterrent to profanity or the volume at which it was shouted.  The "f" word seemed to be the most favored.

Although the "partying" was still going strong at 12:30 AM on Sunday when I went to bed, I still managed to fall asleep by taking some allergy medication only to be awakened out of a dead sleep at 2:30 AM from the same idiots.  I waited about 10 minutes before calling the front office.  By this time, DH had awakened --he is VERY difficult to wake from sleep.  With only voice mail answering, I left a message, my site number, & my cell phone number.  I waited another 10 minutes as the "partying" was still going strong & decided to get dress & find whomever was responsible for enforcing the quiet hours.  At 10 to 3 AM, no one was at the office, no information was available as to who to contact after hours.  I could still hear the "partying" 2 streets away, both going to the office & coming back.  Frustrated, I call 911 & explained my dilemma.  She said a patrol car was on the way after she had taken all my information.  DH turned on the AC's fan, I took a low dosage of a muscle relaxant, & we went back to bed.

In the meantime, Apache Adventurer said he walked to the restroom at 3 AM and no one of authority was in sight on his way to or from the bathroom.  Yet, these idiots were still "partying".

Normally, I expect to encounter at least one obnoxious camper while we're camping.  Yet, in every other instance, the presiding authorities took action on some level.  Rarely did I have to initiate the authorities to do their job.  However, during this weekend the phone message & the contacting the police did not result in any action taken against the "partiers".  The real kicker is after I went to the front office Sunday morning to inquire if the offending parties where leaving that day & implored them to enforce the 12 noon check-out time after a brief explanation, I was told "yes, they are leaving today".  Followed by not one word remotely resembling a simply apology.

At 15 minutes to check-out time on Sunday, these idiots decided to build a fire to make pie iron sandwiches.  Bottom line:  Check-out time was not enforced either.  And, these idiots finally pulled out at 2:30 & 2:45 PM just as we were packing ourselves to go home early.

Since they left & most of the other obnoxious idiots left, we figured we would try to enjoy the rest of our trip & explore the other amenities this campground offered for DS

Wow what a bad experience.  I hope we never have a trip like that and that you don't either.  We will make sure we don't go to that campground. :)

Acts 2:38 girl

I will remember that in the future!  What an awful attitude for that man to have.  I would definatly e-mail them a link to this post!
