Silly questions

Every now and again I have a silly question pop into my head.  Now this doesn't happen oftens since I know almost everything and rarely are any of my questions silly!  ;)

But sometimes I start to wonder about something and rarely ask the question for fear of embarassing myself.  I think we should have a place to openly ask silly questions with no fear of being persecuted for being a closet dope!  I thought the Campfire might work as just such a place!

Feel free to answer any questions if you think you can.  Go right ahead and post your own questions... I PROMISE not to belittle you or make fun! :J (Unless, of course, you poke fun at yourself first!)

My question that came to me today as I was cooking myself a burger:

Does Blue Cheese go bad?  How can you tell?

Something that is already bad ~ can't go bad!

You posted this at 8:42 am ~ and you had already cooked yourself a burger??!!

What's for dinner?   pancakes?    ;)

Actually no, but very observant of you!  I wondered if anyone would notice I was eating bad food early in the day!

It was 10:42 here where I am.  Something was wrong with the clock on this website when I first changed my user cp options for the time. When I selected time option for Eastern Standard Time, it was off by an hour. so I had chosen the next time option which made the clock right on my screen.  Also, you are an hour behind me. You are central time right?  Edit... I went to the user cp and checked the time again.  Seems the problem is fixed and I have changed it back to EST so now my posts show at the right time.

So 10:42 isn't all that bad! My daughter is in second grade and they go to the cafeteria at 10:20 for lunch!  We are up at 6 am and I HATE breakfast food... never eat breakfast. So by 11,  I am usually ready for lunch.  Today I jumped the gun a little!  Since I had my sinus surgery last week, I have had NO sense of taste or smell.  But this morning I woke up, blew my nose and could taste my toothpaste so I got excited that I may actually be able to taste something today!  I did taste the burger ever so slightly... I think it was the blue cheese I tasted the most!

And THANKS for the dinner suggestion!  The kids love pancakes and we have them for dinner all the time!!

Now next question:

Why do all prescription medications have the same "one year" shelf life and over the counter medications vary in their effective expirations?

The medication itself doesn't necessarily expire in a year, but the prescription to refill it does. For instance, if you have a prescription for nausea medicine filled once, and you COULD have gotten it refilled 11 more times (once per month), but didn't, you have to get a new Rx after one year. Our biggest reason to do this is to encourage patients to follow up with their doctor at least once a year. When a patient who hasn't seen us in over a year needs a refill, we give them 2-3 months worth, so they can follow up in the meantime and get a 1 year Rx.

Next question:

Why do you drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?

My dad used to tease me with these:

Is it wetter in the water if you're in it when it's raining?

*
Would you rather walk to work or carry your lunch?
*
*
*
Is it farther to New York or by train?
*

*
Is it hotter in the summer or down South?

LOL ~ My dad used to say that too!  My favorite, though, is when you ask him how much something cost and he doesn't want to tell you.  He'll say "a dollar six twenty" .... find myself saying the same thing to my kids!   (hey ~ now there's an idea screaming for a thread ~ Channeling our parents ;) )

Kelly, my Dad's favorite was to say eleventy-two...

I find myself saying that to my Grandkids!  Funny how things come back around isn't it?

Yeah, my dad always priced things "A dollar two ninety eight."

We had a particular television on our showroom floor (television sales) that took a while to sell. Big nice console with lots of features.

Its price? "Eleb'n hundred eleb'nty eleb'n dollars and eleb'nty eleb'n cents."
