I posted this in the general trip thread but not sure anybody saw it.  With the weekend approaching and the weather looking pretty darn good, I thought I would repost to see if there is interest

Just a thought ===> I know many of those attending are repeat visitors to the park and have done the major sights. HR has a sister annex park ajoining HR that is quite nice. It is the Lehigh Gorge - well known for it's whitewater rafting and the super nice Rails-to-Trails that runs the length of the gorge.

Would there be any interest in a biking excursion of a portion of the trail? We ride this trail often and it's a gem. Very smooth and well groomed, easy for all ages to ride, with scenic sights and historical ruins to see along the way. Beyond what the park showcases on the trail there is much more that I have explored and discovered. Also the Fall colors along the gorge should be starting up. I would be happy to put a little tour together if there is interest.

Dave.

My family would like to do something like that, but hiking.  Don't have bikes.
Some geocaching would be fun too.

Beckie,

There are lots of hiking trails @ HR and you can hike the Lehigh Gorge trail too.

Just an FYI....there are bike rentals available right in White Haven. I can get more info if you are interested.

The ride is real nice and flat (1-1/2 %) grade and newly resurfaced (tightly packed / almost like pavement). Trail runs through gorge alongside Lehigh River white water rapids. There are some real neat canal ruins and structures to see along the way too.

Oh, yes, and there are several geocaches right in HR too, from easy to difficult.

Dave we will not be bringing bikes on this trip.  We would be interested in seeing the gorge though. :)

Just bumping this up....

Sharon and I WILL be taking a ride down the Gorge trail Sat. morning.

Probably going to ride as far as Mud Run, about 3 very easy, kid freindly miles down the Rail to Trail path.  Going to do some photo shots at several of the canal ruins.

Weather up here is lookig great.

Anyone interested in joining us just let us know.
