Since DH was laid off from his job of 23 years, he's been depressed but trying to keep some hope. I talked him into camping two weekends ago at a SP 30 miles from home and he felt so good there that he stayed for the rest of the week. I had to come home to my job, but went down a couple of evenings to visit. I guess he needed the time to do some soul searching.
The weekend I was there the park had 50 sites booked for ....Oh No!.... the YMCA Indian Princesses! There were little girls, ages 6 to 10 running (and screaming, and screaming, and screaming) all over the place. You have never seen so many pink and purple bikes in one place at a time. It was heartwarming, though, to see all the dads and their little girls camping together. DH said you would not believe how quiet it got after they left on Sunday. That weekend there was also a Mayfly invasion. The little critters were everywhere, stuck on the campers and all over the piers on the lake. You should have seen the fish go crazy for them, which also brought in the alligators (after the fish). Can you say "food chain"
Well, DH is looking into taking a re-certification test to be an RT. He was a radiologic tecnologist (x-ray tech) before he worked at the DuPont plant. He doesn't know if he can remember enough to pass the test but he is going to study up and try. He is behind majorly on his computer skills so I talked him into taking a three week "Intro to Computers" continuing education class at the local college. I think that will be good for him.
We are keeping our fingers crossed.

Sounds like a good game plan.  How wonderful for him to have you help motivate.  And it sounds like more frequent camping trips would do a world of good too. Wish him luck on the test from me!

It sounds like he is starting to make some headway.  I hope things go well for you both. :)

sorry about the layoff...we've been there.  Your DH sounds like a smart cookie, a few refresher courses and he'll be into in the employment field once again soon!!!!!!!!!!
