I felt that we just didn t have enough threads.  Especially one for " stuff" .

Duane Mom - Welcome!  We can t wait to meet you.  Btw, we have a 9 year-old and a 3 1/2 year-old.  The group is silly & crazy, but not dangerous.  Yeah, right.  Here s an example of how easy going everyone is;  Teacher Mom (Sandi) & I took the kids to the Space & Science Center and it was as if we d been friend s for a long time.  I just had to remember to call her Amy when we used my membership card at the entrance & gift shop, ha.
Brian & Nick - The NNC site looks great!
Brian - Amy wants to know when Jennifer will not be attending a rally so she can go, ha.
Nick - Sorry to hear about Josh.
Sal - Don t worry, you still have the RC badge.  Ours are only battery powered.  But fun!
Ray - Glad you re back safe & sound!  Did you deshnitz. your clothes hanger any higher?  Any interest in the Joe Satriani show at the Fillmore next Fri. (1/31) or at least for dinner/drinks before?
Holly - Is your house back in order?  Have you decided whether or not to meet us next Thurs. (1/30)?  Backstage for that show looks promising!
Diane & Lon - How was the " freedom train"  experience on Monday?  I thought of you guys.
Larry/Sammy Slave - I cannot remember the name of that Gin.  Save me some please.
Larry/CWB - I still don t know why you and TMM rabble rouse each other so much, lol.  It sure makes for good reading though, ha.  Your television is all ready to be delivered to your door in Olema, btw.  Sammy Slave & Holly are scoring shower floors that w/e also.  Just call me the " PU genie" .
Scott & Georgeanne - Kazoo s have been sounding off here all week.  Thanks alot, haha!
Well, I ve been so busy this week since Chabot that I just had to read every day and wait until now to reply in one shot.
 I ll check in later.

Jeez Steve, feeling a little left out are we, ha?
If you hadn t gone to bed so early (7:00!) on Saturday you would have heard everyone talk about how you and Sandi will always be Cougher s.  We will give you a kick, er I mean, a warm send-off at the June rally.  You re part of the driving force behind NNC for goodness sake!

Kevin - Glad you re back safe from Ireland!  Margaret is pretty amazing to handle tearing out the carpet (& the dreaded tack-strip) for the hardwood guy!  Did you have a good time?  Do they really tow their TT s with the family car there?!

Larry/CWB - I m with you on hoping threads and topics aren t moved again.  Although it was kind of an adrenaline rush to come to your defense regarding the TM ad, lol.

 Hello Y-Guy:

Are you new to the group.  I d like to welcome you to the group.  The qualifications aren t stringent, only that you have to possess the love for camping, live IN the State of California and have wacky sense of humor.

Now, pick a number and we will get you processed for your induction and orientation.  And please, don t call us, we will call you when we can make room for your orientation.

Tata and good luck prospective member.

Red neff BarchettaLOL Ray, well I m still a CA resident for another week or so!  Heck I know when things look bad, 35billion in debt, tax hikes a coming fast, school cuts.. etc I think I m getting out well the getting is good hehe.

As I ve said before I m really going to miss this group of folks... I can only hope to find a group half as fun as all of you, but I don t hold out much hope.  [:(]

Then again looking at a new 2,300 sq. ft. house on .7 acres for around $203,000 makes me smile! [:D] I d have plenty of room for my camper!  And a riding lawn mower [8D]

Oh and I had a nice plus tonight! I won t need to pay for storage any more.  Family friend has 10 acres of parking at his job so I can park the camper there. Woohoo I m saving money already... does that mean I can go shopping?  Oops better watch what I say around TeacherMom [&:]

I do think I need to talk to Jeff about my DW posing as his DW though...

 Y-GuySteve & Sandi,

Just wanted to say it was great having you as such instrumental members of Nick-Neff-Cough, and as Jeff said, you will always be a member and our first grand poobah. Nobody can take that away from you! You really played a leadership role in getting this group started and we will definitely miss you at our rallies. I remember hanging out at Woodson Bridge and talking about forming the group. That was only in September and look how far we ve come! We ll be thinking of you at the rallies and, of course, keeping in touch here in PUT. Congratulations on the new job and all the best in this new chapter of your life!

Ray (see, I even know your real name), this is exactly why I m sorry we missed you by less than an hour at Cachuma.  You sound like a real character!  Next time, OK?

I ll take a number.  Will I have to wait long?  Do I have to wait in the corner?  And do I need to introduce myself while waiting?  Kinda already did that in the " Free Membership"  thread.

Nice to be back.  Thanks, all, for having us.  Guess what?  Until we get a new truck, our camping days have come to an abrupt halt.   [:(]

Our old  89 4Runner has been acting up these past couple of months, but really badly this month.  Has been in and out of the shop.  There s no way it can pull even li l Cottonwood at the moment.  We are scouting around for a used truck now, and for something powerful enough to haul a trailer, which we d like to eventually move to.  Am getting a crash course in lingo such as rear axle ratios, " dually" , 1/2 vs. 3/4 ton, etc. that I never even knew existed a week ago!

I made a beeline to this board when they let me in.  Now I have to look around and familiarize myself with the place.  No pop-up indicator message appears when holding the cursor over icons here, making things a little more difficult, but I am intrigued by that reddish flag icon alongside messages that indicate " ...pmsend...."  in the status bar.  And end to PMS... hallelujah!  [:D]

 Off to explore...

Red neff BarchettaOK, I ve looked, and still can t find the answer to my questions, so perhaps I can ask here:

 1)  What s the difference between a Member and Charter Member?
 2)  That yellow icon next to poster names looks like either a haystack or corn muffin.   What is it?
 3)  Is there a listing of what each icon means?
 4)  Why do my posts indicate a direct reply to Red neff Barchetta?

gsm x2

CottonwooderWelcome small, but powerful buddy.  Good to have you back on PUT.

Sorry about the truck.  Let us know if you start going through PU withdrawls and NEED to go camping.  We wound up with two tow vehicles and would gladly haul your Cottonwooder to a mutually perfect campground around here.

OK, let s see if I can answer your questions.

 1) What s the difference between a Member and Charter Member? Something along the way that a Charter Member signed up before January 15th.

 2) That yellow icon next to poster names looks like either a haystack or corn muffin. What is it? It s a Marie Callendar Corn Muffin.  Remember how the Snitz board had popups indicating how many messages one posted?  Well this one uses Marie Callendar Corn Muffins....except the Board voted to get rid of the numbering system, so it doesn t show how many posts you have and we ll never have more than ONE muffin unless we become a moderator.

 3) Is there a listing of what each icon means? Hold you cursor over an icon for a few seconds and a balloon popups up showing what each ICON means.

 4) Why do my posts indicate a direct reply to Red neff Barchetta? OK---I think I have this one figured out at least a little bit.  If you go to the bottom of the page and click on the POST REPLY icon, you will reply directly to the person who started the thread.  If you go to the white envelope icon with the blue arrow at the top of the message, you reply to the person who wrote the message.

 Again, welcome home.

 Hello Cottonwooder:

I am glad you are with us here at PUT and we re quite honored that you hang around our little Nick-Neff-Cough campfire.  As for your questions, I don t claim to have intellectual domain on the subjects, but let me try to answer as GSM X2 did.

 1)  What s the difference between a Member and Charter Member?

Every so often, PUT charters planes to go crisscrossing the country to visit exotic campgrounds.  Charter Members are entitled to board these planes for free to travel to wine and dine.  Their trailers are flown to campsites.  Mere members have to tow their own trailer and use the interstate.

 2)  That yellow icon next to poster names looks like either a haystack or corn muffin.   What is it?

If you see a haystack by looking at that yellow icon, please bring some of that stuff you re smoking to our next our next campout.  I ll bring the Doors CD and we can sing " Imagine"  by John Lennon together.  No silly, everyone can see they re muffins.  But if you look closely, they didn t do a very good job.  That thing is burnt on the bottom.  I don t know who does the baking around here, but if I were you, I d just go around eating the muffin tops.

 3)  Is there a listing of what each icon means?

Well, there s the official PUT definition.  But the following is the Nick-Neff-Cough interpretation as revealed by GSM X2:

[:)]= Two weeks until the next NNC camping outing

[8D]= Mermossas in the morning, beer sitting around in the afternoon, wine with dinner, Bailey s at night.

[&:]= How many more hairpin turns to Mount Madonna???

[:(] = " G-whiz, have you seen my sunglasses? I ve looked all over and I can t find them."

[>:]= Andy Rooney using mousse to control his eyebrows; as if there was THAT MUCH MOUSSE in the world to control Andy Rooney s eyebrows.

[:D]= " Ah, nothing like a nice warm shower at home"

[;)]= " No rocks in my back; no bugs in my bag. Love sleeping in the PU."

  [:@]= " I think I got a little windburned at Bodega Bay."

[: (]= Cartoon depiction of what I look like sneezing----but needs to be MUCH LARGER

[:o]= Hmmm, ran out of creative thought....need some help with this one.

 4)  Why do my posts indicate a direct reply to Red neff Barchetta?

Sad truth is, ultimately, we all answer to Red neff Barchetta.  We are all just members of the proletarian class that worships Neff and do as instructed.
