This came as an emial to me, just thought it was funny.  Found out it happened in April 2004.

This picture is real - not doctored in any way - and was taken by a Transportation Supervisor for a company that delivers building materialsfor 84 Lumber. When he saw it in the parking lot of IHOP, he went to buy a camera to take

The car is still running, as can be witnessed by the exhaust.
A woman is either asleep or otherwise out in the front seat passenger side. The driver was jogging up and down on Rt. 925.(in the background)
Witnesses said their physical/mental state was OTHER than normal. The driver finally came back after the police were called, and was found crouched behind the rear of the car, attempting to cut the twine around the load! Luckily, the police stopped him and had the load removed.
The materials were loaded at Home Depot. Their store manager said they made the customer sign a waiver.
While the plywood and 2X4s are fairly obvious, what you can t see is the back seat, which contains -- are you ready for this? --

10 bags of concrete @ 80 lbs. each. They estimated the load weight at 3000 lbs.[/b]
Both back tires exploded, the wheels bent and the back shocks were driven through the floorboard.[/b]
The car, with FLA plates, was headed for Clanton, Al. where the couple presumably planned to build a new house

It is a real photo, but it happened a lot earlier than this past spring. I've seen the photo several times before:

Yeah, this picture has been circulating around the Lumber yard/ hardware store circuit for a while!

What really gets me... (But first let me admit I'm biased as I'm Controller for an Ace Hardware and Home Center with 3 locations in Vermont and NH)... is the fact that Home Depot would load THAT much on a car waiver or not! It wasn't like it was just the occupants of the car that were in danger! Every pedestrian and motorist that they met and TRIED to stop for would have been in danger had they made it out of the HD parking lot. I am postitive that our people would never have loaded that load waiver or not. Even if it meant a lost sale. It all comes down to "Ya gotta be able to sleep at night!"

I have seen this pic before too.  I still can't believe someone would load up like that and think the car could take it. :eyecrazy:
