Last weekend on Friday we headed for Fort Frederick State Park, having checked out the sites the week before.  A sign on the Visitor's Center said "See You In April"  They were closed for the season.  Knowing where we were going, we didn't have any directories with us, so we headed back to the Snug Harbor KOA and they were able to fit us in - had to pop up after dark though.  The weather was much better than predicted.  The next day we took our inflatable kayaks out on the Conococheague.  It was warm enough that when I fell in at the dock, I only felt foolish, not cold.  Sunday we biked on the Western Maryland rail trail that starts in Big Pool - great paved surface, but after 3 miles it parallels I-70 so closely the traffic noise is disappointing.  We crossed over and did a bit of the C&O canal path and called it a day.  The map shows that around Hancock it gets away from the highway.  We'll try that trip sometime.  Met some nice folks at the KOA and shared their campfire.

It sounds like you had a nice trip even though you couldn't camp where you had planned too.  We may be going back to the KOA in Pine Grove in November if you want to camp there again. :)
