We camped with a small group of COTOCians this weekend.  It was a great trip, great food, with most of the thanks to Shebantam for the food.  Sitting around the campfire Saturday night, the kids playing.  I wish it would have been for a few more days.  I winterized the water system of my PU.  Unloaded all of the food, hygiene and first aid supplies.  I am worried and depressed that this could be the last trip of the year for us.  We have two tentative trips in November planned, but the weather will be the deciding factor. :(   How many of you are still camping this season. :)

We would camp farther into the year, except Holly's arthritis flares up if it gets too cool at all. Then the flareup won't go away. AND, now that Vioxx has been taken off the market....well...

I hope to have one or two more trips also. But the weather has been pretty cool here at night. I think it is GREAT camping weather, but we almost didn't get Holly healthy again after the last flareup. So I just listen to her.

We usually camp into the November deer hunting season here in MI, and for the last few years I've noticed, like Holly, that the arthritis flare-ups get worse and worse each year.   My fibromyalgia also reacts badly to the cold, so between the two, I'm hurting kinda bad before I get it back under control.  This has always been my favorite time to camp, I love the changing colors, being able to go out without being swarmed by flying things, and cooking pots of hot stuff over the campfire without singeing my shins.  A nice cool morning, steaming cup of coffee,  and a warm sweatshirt are some of the nicest things on earth.   But, the cup of coffee and sweatshirt are lately being enjoyed inside, instead of out where I can see my breath, and hardly feel my fingers.   I think that I'll be able to camp with DH some more yet this month while he's working up north, but not sure if I'll do deer camp this year.  I've noticed that I'm watching to see what the weatherman has to say before I make plans for what days to go up.
DH and DS and some of the other guys, including our friend Ed (aka edsclassic) will be there, and I could go just to stay inside and cook, but I can do that at home.

If we could chose only one time of year to camp, this would be it, hands down! I agree with tlhdoc though....... the weather in the fall/winter is the deciding factor.

Just got back a little while ago from our last trip of the season.  I'll set the trailer up tomorrow and give her a good cleaning.

It was an absolutely beautiful weekend.  We hit the peak colors in southern Minnesota and enjoyed perfect camping weather.  Sunny glorious days and star-lit campfire evenings.  (70s during the day and low 40s at night)  We went to this same campground the same time last year with the same families.  I'm sensing a tradition in the making ...

Just came back from my last trip of the year. Went to Potato Creek State Park in Indiana. What a beautiful place. The fall colors are Grrrrrreat!!! At sunset when the low sun hits the lake and shines on the trees....oh boy!! Id camp further into the fall/winter months but my wife " :frosty: "cant get warm, even with a heater/blanket/coat and sleeping bag wrapped around her. Ill just have to dream about spring..........

We're scheduled to go out for a long weekend in a couple weeks. Hopefully it's not our last time out for the year. Last year it was the middle of Nov and night time temps of 14 degrees!  My Banshee froze in it's insulated mug as we sat by the roaring fire!  I'd still like to try winter camping but can't talk DH into it.

Fall and winter are great times for us to camp here in south Tx. It is too hot and muggy in the dead of summer. We would end up spending most of our time indoors in the A/C.
So we like the winter (no such thing as snow here! :p)- 40 to 50 at night, 60 to 70's daytime....perrrfffect!
As a matter of fact we are going to the SP this weekend. Setting up Thurs and I'm taking Fri off to enjoy a great weekend. :) I can't wait!!!!!!

We'll be camping this weekend at Higgens Lake (north)State Park
Just hope the weather holds as this will be our first fall outing.
We never camped in the fall with the pop up but we now have the hybrid and are going to give fall camping a try.
